ezJam Combo Guitar for Wii plays neutral in the battle of the (virtual) bands
Living room arenas around the world will soon become even more cluttered with toy instruments thanks to Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour. Axes for the two respective franchises haven't gotten along on the Wii, and while we're still not sure whether the next generation will cooperate ezGear is hoping to bring some peace (and eliminate some clutter) for current Nintendo rockers with its ezJam Combo Guitar. Inside its baby-blue Strat-esque styling there's port to plug in your Wiimote when playing Guitar Hero III as well as an integrated wireless transmitter for Rock Band. At $70 it's a little more expensive than other third-parties like the Nyko Frontman, but playing lead in two bands instead of one is totally worth it.

You mean playing like you're playing.

That's nice, but what about the drums ezJams? I'll still need two sets of drums for Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2.

Quick question - if i buy this guitar and the standalone game for either rock band or guitar hero will i still be able to play the guitar elements of the game without owning drums?
CB @ Sep 5th 2008 12:39PM
Yes. You can play a solo in quickplay or in world tour with just the guitar.

Since it looks like the people on ezGear are monitoring this thread... Want to let me know what the strum bar is like? Click or no click? GH style or RB style? This is a must know before purchase.
CB @ Sep 5th 2008 12:58PM
Not Sure I understand the question. Can you please elaborate? The strum bar is the same as the one we have used on our GH guitars in the past, but the timing is set differently for each game to ensure its right on.

Well that's good...but, since I'm a Wii GH/RB player, like many others who would be interested in buying this, I've never had/used one of your old GH guitars (presumably made for xbox/PS2-3. So basically, does the strum bar click when you play it (like the GH Les Paul controller), or is it mushy with no click (like the RB Stratocaster controller)?

Is the guitar bluetooth?
chrgrchk04 @ Sep 5th 2008 1:12PM
What about the drums????
CB @ Sep 5th 2008 1:20PM
It Clicks.
Stefan @ Sep 5th 2008 1:24PM
Thanks. That's all I needed to know. Sold!.....wait...I think I'm getting an xbox 360...nevermind.
BigB @ Sep 5th 2008 2:31PM
Actually that is great news that it clicks.
I cannot stand the rock band guitar that has no definitive click when the note is struck.

I might actually invest the extra $20 in this guitar, if it works with both games... I've been putting off buying a new one in hopes of something like this.
eKalb @ Sep 9th 2008 3:11PM
I'm glad this is finally available. Why didn't they just make the original guitars compatible with both games?
