Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-G3 with WiFi diddled by the FCC
The FCC didn't give us much to go on here besides these wireframe images and a few radiation reports. From that we can tell you that Sony's about to release its new DSC-G3 Cyber-shot boasting 802.11b/g WiFi. As a followup to the WiFi-packing DSC-G1 announced more than a year ago, we're expecting the 3.5-inch LCD (now probably touchscreen like the T700) to carryover with storage twisted above 2GB and a sensor bump into the 10.1 megapixel range like Sony's new T500. Just a guess though, we hope to hear more at the Photokina show later this month.

OUCH! Engadget double-posted! Jesus, the posting system must be just as bad as the commenting system. Must be the same developers...

Maybe NOW Engadget will finally try to fix the posting system :)

When it comes to features and value, SONY may lag behind Canon and Kodak in some respects, BUT, when it comes to build quality and fun factor, Sony makes the best cameras I know of.
I loved the T series but, it was a bit small and hard to hold for my bigger hands. My fiance loves it.
If this camera can automatically transfer pictures over wifi to my laptop or desktop, I would SO buy this.
Verx @ Sep 5th 2008 2:30AM
just switch to your smaller hands, problem solved.

If the DSC-G3 will have a touchscreen, I don't see any point on getting the T700.
Temple @ Sep 5th 2008 2:07AM
Being that the original G1 had touch-screen (and a good one at that) I would expect the G3 to have one as well. But the G3 should by more expensive then the T700 (and slightly larger).
yopladas @ Sep 5th 2008 2:35AM
Hmmm when I get details, Ill think about getting one... until then clunky Eos' are ok for me. ^_^
danny @ Sep 5th 2008 3:12AM
interesting, although it would be nice to see the HD video feature (as seen in the new T500) included as well!..
kudoz @ Sep 5th 2008 3:25AM
hoping I won't be slaughtered for this...
Is anyone else hoping that someone figures out how to network a digital camera with wifi to the iPhone/iPod touch?
I've been searching high and low but I guess it can't be done without making a homebrew app etc.
Would love to be able to have decent pics and vids available at all times.
zeroluck @ Sep 5th 2008 3:59AM
Now add a 3G, BT and wlan chip and P1/experia software and you just made my ideal cellphone.
Ok, maybe it needs a more powerful battery too, but hey, why isn't that product already
on the market? I'll buy it, promise!
xValentine @ Sep 5th 2008 6:58AM
I hope they can connect this to a Laptop, PSP and the PS3 via WiFi.
If they do that, I will immediately drop my plan to purchase a Nikon Coolpix P6000, even I hate Touch-Screen digicams.
Go on Sony, be the first. Make us drool.

Lenses? Where we're going, we don't NEED lenses...
