Outside of the bigger hard drive what makes this dvr diffrent from the S3? Is the network connection faster?
So is this a S4? Does it have the dongle built in?
Bigger capacity, THX certification, Glo-remote and a $600 price tag.. so basically a cheaper Seried 3 and not worth it.
Also i'm guessing the XL supports using a single type M CableCard unlike the Series 3 which forces me to use two type M cards working in single mode. I like the OLED display on my series 3, but given the choice i think i'd buy the box that doesn't cost me an additional fee each month for an extra card i shouldn't need.
It's a nice upgrade, but honestly all anyone had to do was go to weaknees.com and beef up the drive there. I also agree that I really like the display too, if not OLED then why not LCD?
Anyway, we got our Series3 at the end of January 2007 with a 750 gig drive and haven't look back once. The TB drive was not out for another few months, but had it been we would have gone that route. It's amazing how much shit you can record once you get going and it does get to the point where you just don't watch half of it, but it's just so nice to have it ready at the touch of a few buttons. Thanks.
PS: The new web site change to these comments is not right, as I type this out the typing is not staying inside the box area and it going all the way to the end of the screen underneath the menu and advertising banner before it wraps around. Also, this gray area color change makes it look like I shouldn't be typing in this area... not good. Please tel them to fix this. Thanks.
