What features does the iPod have over the Zune?
I see:
Pros:
Better/More OS support
Better music/video store
Better battery life
Cons:
Less features
Less HDD Space for the price
Easily scratched back plate
Smaller screen
Worse UI
Yah because the 2001 iPod is so different from the 2008 iPod Classic. Same basic OS. Very little difference other then color, on the go playlists (Which might I add was a no brainer and should have been done since day one.), coverflop which is a joke at how slow it is, and other gimics that don't enhance the user experience. I mean a lock. A fracking lock on your PMP.....right.
Lets look externally. The two biggest changes in 7 years has been color and the touchwheel. That is it. The made it thinner which is by no means something revolutionary, contrary to what Steve "iBAM" Jobs thinks. They've also extended the battery. Mainly with tricks. Like putting a damn screensaver on the now playing screen so it doesn't have to refresh the screen. No instead of glancing at the screen to see what is playing I need to hit a button, which changes the option from volume to audio scrubber. Fracking BRILLIANT!
I wish people would shut the hell up. Apple's shit doesn't smell any better then MS's. Its just a different scent.
PS- Because someone WILL mention the iTouch. The iTouch is invalid in the comparison. At 32GB MAX there are a crap load of people out there who's collection wouldn't fit on double that cap. I purchased an iPod, and one of the core reasons Apple claimed that they didn't want to do lowly 512-1GB of storage, was to have ALL your music with you as a jukebox. That way friends in the car can find something they like or if you have a hankering for something other then RAP...say jazz you don't need to sync the damn thing to get at the music. Does Apple truely think that users music collections stay stagnant as time goes on? If so I think Jobs need to be introduced to the real world. With my 160GB classic I am easily filling the space with movies. Esp for my trip down to TX next month for training. A week in an isolated part of the state sitting in my hotel room. That 160GB is going to be filled to the max with video so I can watch something in the evenings. But hey. Only a small % of users would ever need such space. Riiiiight.
What you all fail to see is that Apple has been developing and evolving the iPod line over the years. Your "me too" company just copied the iPod and released the Zune. Thats exactly what happened and spinning the story like a crooked politician will not change the fact. The release of the biggest "me too" device ( Zune ) was a complete joke in the industry. It was an obvious ploy to destroy MS Played For Sure partners and to copy Apple.
So pathetic and sad that you Zune fans are so completely misguided with the purpose of this product. It does nothing to enhance the experience. Nothing.
No new software == no new sale.
Do you guys know will the play count & date added -data transfer to the Zune, when I transfer my iTunes music library to it? This is the decisive buying factor for me with this thingy here.
i got one too .. http://freecheese.wordpress.com/2008/09/07/cheers-zune-120-gb/
I just bought the 8gb Zune last night. It's extremely user friendly to me at least. I can do without the extra 112gb of space for now.
I generally find Microsoft products to have poor interfaces and a sort of shotgun approach to design, but on the other hand the Xbox and 360 are somewhat exceptions to this.
Can anyone who has used both compare and contrast the two?

If i'm not mistaken, this 120GB disk is a single-platter drive, which is the same type that fits in the iPod classic - I thought PMP's wouldn't be shipping with this until 2009, but this hints to me that other manufacturers (cough, Apple, cough) can and will replace their 80GB hard disk-based players with 120GB versions - 120GB, reduced-price iPod Classic on Tuesday, anyone? I've been holding out for this....
I'm probably gonna get one when i get my motorcycle :-)
even though i probably won't use it cause i'm sorta ADHD when it comes to music.. i change songs every ten seconds and rarely listen to a whole song all the way through..
I don't know what state you live in, but in most states it's illegal to ride and listen to headphones that aren't a part of an on-board com system, so buying any type of pmp for a motorcycle is useless.
I have a question, who has 120 gb's worth of music, videos, pictures, etc. on their mp3 players and actually listen/watch them all? I really don't get the point of bring hundreds of hours of music when the device runs out a good 10 and then you need to recharge. Anywho, I love the new Zunes, GO MICROSOFT!
They are at Frys Electronics in Phoenix Arizona. I just saw 2 there each for 250.00 dollars.
I just ordered one on Amazon, I am psyched!
The touch sold for $165.
