Barco demoes 10MP 3D stereo CADWall setup
Barco has a knack for stopping shows, and while Tokyo's Industrial Virtual Reality expo didn't exactly shut down, we can only imagine how many folks took the time to check out the CADWall concept. Hailed as a "multi-channel display system with a high pixel density that consists completely of Barco technology," said system utilizes a pair of LX-5 projectors, a superflat high-contrast screen and just two-channels to create a 10-megapixel 3D stereo image. Sure beats six or eight to make the third-dimension come to life, huh?

Wow! Pair this with some 3D glasses and some of that great haptic force field system we saw before and you've got yourself a 3D design wall.
I'm thinking Iron Man, but you can design cars, then run them through a wind tunnel simulation.
andres @ Sep 8th 2008 8:10PM
deep down, aren't we all thinking of iron man?
ethana2 @ Sep 8th 2008 9:43PM
*sigh*
Iron Man? Why, what /else/ would we be thinking of?
Reader @ Sep 8th 2008 10:29PM
Jessica Alba.
waiownsyou @ Sep 8th 2008 7:06PM
is that guy seriously trying to touch that car?
I learned my lesson when I accidentally slapped someone in the back of the head when I tried to touch a 3D image a while back in the theater...
ethana2 @ Sep 8th 2008 9:51PM
'back of the head' isn't very exciting.
Whoa, sorry ma'am, I was trying to touch-- uh.. the-- thing.
Ma'am, please si-- sit down ma'a-- put down the pur-- MA'AM I DIDN'T MA *THWACK THWACK THWACK*
~
Sir? Those 3d gl-- yeah, those are mine, by your foot there.. yeah, thanks. (adjust 3d glasses, glance quickly at pissed lady)
*THWACK*
Unfortunately, everyone knows the 3d experience is still limited to the space generally in /front/ of you..

Call of Duty 4 in 3d would be cool

Almost any PC game, if you have an nvidia card, will support 3D Stereo. Just grab the Nvidia 3D Stereo Drivers from their site, works on my system running Vista 64-bit on Crysis - you will need to buy some analgyph red/cyan glasses through.
Works a treat =].
Chris J @ Sep 9th 2008 6:34PM
It is, I use it in full stereoscopic 3d with CrystalEyes 3 shutter glasses on 3 * projectors running at 70fps. Its awesome.
CJ @ Sep 9th 2008 6:36PM
BTW dont listen to Maty - anaglyph is a total waste of fucking time.
Ross @ Sep 8th 2008 7:24PM
oh balls.
kal326 @ Sep 8th 2008 7:56PM
If they really wanted to stop the show, take same setup, subtract the car video, and add porn!
andres @ Sep 8th 2008 9:19PM
i believe that would literally stop the show
Vivek @ Sep 9th 2008 6:25AM
Ill only be interested when they can make 3D Megan Fox
ethana2 @ Sep 8th 2008 9:44PM
*headdesk*
Why do people still do this to themselves?
3dpenguin @ Sep 8th 2008 10:19PM
This is nothing, we did the same thing here at my work with a pair of $2000 HD Projectors, software, a pair of polarizing filters and a graphics card, then we went and played Crisis on it.
andres @ Sep 8th 2008 10:39PM
your moms basement is not a workplace.
tomaskn @ Sep 9th 2008 12:22AM
CRISIS? lol
Chris J @ Sep 9th 2008 6:34PM
Yeah, and it was shit.
1) because crisis is still nearly unplayable with any stereoscopic solution at the moment, and
2) because there is no SS that supports DX10 at this time, and
3) because Crysis, lets face it, is shit.
Markarian @ Sep 9th 2008 1:06AM
I once owned a Barco projection monitor. It was gorgeous. Then my friend killed it by playing Phatasy Star Online for 8 hours on it without turning it off to give it a break.
maty @ Sep 9th 2008 5:35AM
*sigh*
Nvidia cards support Anaglyph 3d stereo. Just hook that up to any projector and any PC game. Job is done. You don't need two projectors, did you ever google it before you went and wasted all that money?
