Microsoft Arc Mouse unfolds into view along with the Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000
It's not all BlueTrack hysteria for Microsoft today -- the company's hardware division also took the wraps off that Arc Mouse we spotted back in July and the new Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000. The two-part wireless Arc Mouse isn't just pure fashion -- the folding design allows it to flip closed for easy storage and portability, and unfolds to full size when in use. Sadly, it doesn't get the hot new BlueTrack tech, but uses a traditional optical sensor instead -- but the 2.4GHz connection provides a 30-foot range. The Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000 is your basic travel optical mouse, but it'll get six months out of one AA battery. Both of these should be out this month -- the Arc Mouse will come in black and red for $60, while the Mobile Mouse 3000 will come in black and white for $30 -- there'll be some colorful special editions in Target as well. Check the Mobile Mouse 3000 after the break.

Arc Mouse? More like P.O.S. If it won't work with my iMac then what's the point of getting it? Steve Jobs FTW!
Nexus @ Sep 9th 2008 3:00PM
did you miss the shots of it paired with a macbook pro that leaked? the reciever was even in one of the usb ports.
Rob @ Sep 9th 2008 3:04PM
Words can't describe how much you fail.
PHO @ Sep 9th 2008 3:02PM
Good concept... but yuck its ugly as hell...
oh man...
Sisyphus @ Sep 9th 2008 3:02PM
Thats funny, I was just thinking the same thing!
I was just about to order new PC parts from the Egg, and I thought to myself "would these work with burriot_avatar's iMac?"
Then I rolled over to tell the picture of Steve on my nightstand what happened. We both chuckled.
chris fredette @ Sep 9th 2008 3:19PM
So you are saying you really want this but because you bought a mac you can't? Seroiusly mac's are generally a closed system and that is the problem you get when you buy one. The mac is still a very small player in this market so MS can drag their feet to support it.
I think this looks great but no bluetooth is the ass whipper.
JT @ Sep 9th 2008 4:53PM
Microsoft mice work fine on Macs.
burriot_avatar @ Sep 9th 2008 5:08PM
@Sisyphus
I like you
Tonicboy @ Sep 9th 2008 5:25PM
People people, stop feeding the fake Mac fanboy trolls. There are enough real fanboys, no need to get your panties in a bunch over a fake one. Homeboy has never had an Apple product in his life.
Jon Doe. @ Sep 9th 2008 10:03PM
Dear fanboi. Please do the world a favor and up and die with the rest of you turds of humanity.
Sincerely,
Someone who would enjoy a drama free net.
Ps- Is it any wonder why Apple users are see as assholes?
purezerg @ Sep 9th 2008 10:27PM

Jack Storm @ Sep 10th 2008 2:24AM
Wait, these have been in the Best Buy by my job for over a week already.
avester @ Sep 9th 2008 2:54PM
CARPAL TUNNEL, IT BURRRNS!!!
avester @ Sep 9th 2008 2:57PM
And after that is done, I say that folding design is very stupid, unless the mouse is the kind that you stuff to the PCMIA/ExpressCard slot.
SirPasta117 @ Sep 9th 2008 2:55PM
Im tired of all these Microsoft Posts gawd! JK. neat mouse. I'd pick one up if I didnt already have a MX Revolution
Kenjis9965 @ Sep 9th 2008 3:22PM
That arc mouse is a neat concept, but i think it would hurt to use after a while...
famm113 @ Sep 9th 2008 2:59PM
@ burriot TROLL! Always with the stupid mac vs pc crap. Get over it already
JoeNES @ Sep 9th 2008 2:59PM
Looks like a tiger claw. That's all I got.
pozzitron @ Sep 9th 2008 3:11PM
I was gonna say more like a velociraptor claw.
pozzitron @ Sep 9th 2008 3:01PM
@ burriot
yeah.. why do you have to state the obvious. Mac is better hands down.
PS. the mouse would be better if it came in all white.
SuedeRacoon @ Sep 9th 2008 3:05PM
buriot_avatar = iErik = Apple rep = (immitation of me)... ban his IP.
PynkFloydd @ Sep 9th 2008 4:36PM
Erik is a 17yr old boy with no friends that likes to come in and annoy everyone. His psychiatrist told him that he needed an outlet so, he picked Engadget. I'm afraid if we cut him off he'll become "an hero".*

I saw one in BestBuy (in St. Cloud, MN) yesterday! It wasn't very visible at the back of the computer section but it was there. For sale now.
KRIS_C_123 @ Sep 9th 2008 3:10PM
are there any pictures of the Mobile Mouse 3000 or will it just look like that also?
p.s. i thought it looks a bit like an armadilo. i dont know why
KRIS_C_123 @ Sep 9th 2008 4:08PM
either my computer is just crap and wouldnt load that image of the Mobile Mouse 3000 or engadget upload stuff very quickly, to be honest i think it was both
eliterrell @ Sep 9th 2008 3:13PM
It's a Hello Kitty phaser.
Ryan Trevisol @ Sep 9th 2008 3:44PM
Set mice to "cramp"!
NewZero @ Sep 9th 2008 3:22PM
Look out Master! Droid-dekar!
Speeddemon2008 @ Sep 9th 2008 4:01PM
I was at best buy on sunday and they had it out on display. It was that comfy in the hand, nor were the side buttons in a good location like my 5 year old logitech. Neat idea, needs improvement. Whoa I think I just discribed microsoft as a whole with that statement (I actually do prefer microsoft over mac, and vista isnt that bad at all).
Brian @ Sep 9th 2008 4:08PM
Wow... I like it. A lot.
I want to carry that with my S10. Too bad it costs nearly 20% as much as the laptop!
michaelportent @ Sep 9th 2008 4:18PM
Contrary to the Mac fanboys, I actually think the Arc Mouse is the most pretty design Microsoft has some out with in quite some time. Very sleek - I'd buy one.
Zak @ Sep 9th 2008 5:36PM
Then put your money where your mouth is and go buy one. They're in stores as we speak. I'm sticking with my Logitech G7 for a while longer.
theycallmetak @ Sep 10th 2008 8:16AM
I'm sticking with my circa 1999 HP OEM ball mouse. The buttons and body are worn so shiny now it's like, prettier than evar. It cost me $6.99 at the now defunct PC CLUB of Southern California. Mice with balls ftw?
Moby Disk @ Sep 9th 2008 9:59PM
Does anybody make track balls any more?
Blue @ Sep 9th 2008 5:02PM
The Arc mouse is already out and available in best buy stores.
rento @ Sep 9th 2008 5:23PM
Arc mouse Minimum Requirements: Red stilettos and a short black dress.
Decoy @ Sep 9th 2008 11:12PM
Phew, thats one high spec lady.
phanbouy @ Sep 9th 2008 6:38PM
Srsly? This would be under CrapGadget if it didn't have the brand name.
Zorque @ Sep 9th 2008 6:50PM
I got to play with an Arc at Best Buy on Saturday, I actually liked it quite a bit. I don't really need a new mouse, but if I did I might spring for one.
Zuke @ Sep 9th 2008 11:59PM
LIke others have said, they're in Best Buy now. I tried it last Friday and it felt like a really cheap, flimsy, plasticky POS. The curve was not at all ergonomic to my hand. But at least it folds...?
@ Moby Disk - seriously, I use one too (Kensington Orbit). I think old Kensington stock and the old Logitech Marble are the only ones I can actually still find in stores. :(
Musty @ Sep 10th 2008 8:45PM
I have tried this for a while and love it. Looks cool and is very comfortable. It also spins rather nicely when folded to help pass the time during long meetings.
Nick @ Sep 13th 2008 2:18PM
omg i'm totally buying it because of the spinning
seriously
ratedK @ Oct 22nd 2008 6:41PM
Moby & Zuke - Trackball for sure! I've got the Kensington Expert Mouse Pro & love it. I replaced the roller with a billiard ball (8 ball). A must have with dual screens.
