Official: iPod nano reaches 4G, looks tall for its age

Well well. Can't say we're surprised to be telling you about the new 4th generation iPod nano. As we heard, 9 colors, bigger $149 8GB and $199 16GB capacity, and wider 2-inch display under the control of an accelerometer for automatic switching between portrait and landscape modes like those early Canon PowerShots and uh, oh right, the iPod touch and iPhone. Looks just like the spy shots eh? Steve calls it the thinnest iPod ever with new Genius playlist, shake to shuffle feature, and 24-hour battery for music or 4-hours for video. In stores by the weekend, available immediately on-line. A few more pics after the break and the gallery below.

Is it me or is Steve Jobs look sick? He's lost tons of weight. ????
Hmmm, I'll wait till the Nano's have wireless bluetooth capabilities for syncing and listening.
Really only use it for the gym, so battery life is not a big issue to me. Even if it were cut in half from usage--12 hrs instead of 24 hrs of audio--that would last me a weekend trip w/o having to bring my charger at 4hrs a day. Which is more than enough for me.
I CANNOT believe nobody has mentioned the recorder thing! It cuts out all of the third party devices and opens up the education market in a massive way! Sansa doesn't have a one up anymore....
Well I am just glad they replaced the crap colours they had on the fatties. I did not like the old ones at all, and the new ones look way better. If I didn't have a iPod Touch already I would have gone for the blue nano or blue zune.
If it had FM radio and a built-in receiver for the Nike +, I'd bite. But get rid of that curved glass for crying out loud.
So I want to get a 8GB 3G, (the stubby one) nano... how should I get it for the cheapest price? Since 4G came out, I'm assuming they are going to try to flush out the 3G's for cheap right?
Anybody have any tips?

Find someone looking to upgrade to the new one, and buy it off them.
I really don't like this new design, to me it feels very dated. I couldn't really place my finger on it, until one day I was in the kitchen and realized that the shape looks like the front of our coffee maker. It also resembles a squished toilet paper tube, many shampoo/conditioner bottles, or a well used bar of soap. Can anyone else think of other unrelated products this design snore fest looks like?
Well, you also gotta wonder where the design of the iPod Touch can go. It's already just a glass screen and one button. Design can only go so far... how different can you make an iPod?
I like the new Nano. I'm holding my 2nd gen Nano and the screen is sooo small. I'd probably never watch video on the 4G Nano... but the bigger screen and shape is an improvement.
Bring back the lanyard headphones! I don't get why they would return to this form factor without bringing back the single greatest iPod accessory ever. I'm hoping but not hopeful that the lanyard from 1G or 2G will work with this one.
Does anyone else wonder why the touch got the integrated nike receiver and not the device it was originally intended for? I guess a size thing. But it seems alot more people would want to run with a device that weighed less, cost less, and was easier to operate. I had a touch the week they came out and they only gripe I had, other than the initial screens, was you had to look at it every time to do something. While the 2G nano I had I could operate through my pocket. I've got a iphone 3G (sold the touch last week while I could) now but dont' really want to work out with it so was gonna get another nano. Honestly might just get a refurb'd 2G for $79 since I still have cases for it and storage isn't a big deal. But I do like the 3G nanos, though I never could get a good grip on it. I do like the looks of the silver/black wheel 4G nano so I might have to pick one up and decide then.
But then again I usually put a case on it anyways. decisions

I want the ipod touch but im getting a iphone next year when i graduate idk yet but Zune 3.0 ftw i choose the blue zune over this nano but that purple is fresh with a matching outfit

The Nano is larger....because the Nano Phone is coming. Larger screen. Touch and click interface.
Nano 4G???? Did anyone else notice the individual pictures, the back of them says 8G????
4G for 4th Generation Nano...and the back says 8*GB*, you know...storage capacity.
And still no integrated radio.

Geez, there are so many haters and negative people in here, wtf? Sounds like a lot of jealousy toward the company that owns the digital music market. If all of you negative asses were so correct about your opinions then why is the iPod so dominant? You all need to get a life!
i wish that by calling it 8GB, that it actually had 8GB... not 7.27 GB
