We're just going to get this out of the way upfront: this thing's got
back. The version of the HTC Touch Pro
gracing Sprint next month isn't going to win any awards for miniaturization -- but with the VGA display, extremely usable QWERTY board, and the time-tested, buttoned-up business efficiency of Windows Mobile, it's hard to argue that they really could've done any more to make it a ridiculously usable smartphone. Interestingly, the phone isn't actually any larger than its GSM cousin; the curves applied around the edges here definitely add a few optical pounds and it's still pretty pocketable (just don't expect to ever forget that it's in there). The keyboard is fantastic (as all HTC keyboards tend to be) and we were surprised at how tasteful -- nice, even -- the chrome rings around the around the edges of the two halves actually are when you see them. The backside is done up in a soft-touch grey that would probably look just a little better in black (or even the Touch Diamond's red), but at least the neutral shade keeps it just about as biz-friendly as they come.
Now here's the important part: after spending considerable time with both this and its QWERTY-free counterpart, we can definitely say that this one shouldn't simply be considered a "better Touch Diamond." The Diamond murders the Pro for total pocketability, sex appeal, and feel in the hand -- so you've really got to ask yourself just how badly you need that keyboard before you pull the trigger one way or another.
I absolutely need this phone! I have an HTC P4000 and it's amazing, but the specs on the touch pro kill it! Not to mention touchflo 3d.. :D
cant wait to get this baby! though i dont like how they changed the edges into round edges and theres no more 'diamond' design on the back... am i the only one who liked that?
This is the reason I want the keyboard...

I have a mogul and I have to hit the keys on the keyboard about 3 times, and finally hold them down for about a full second before the slopperating system recognizes them. I often just give up and use the on-screen keyboard. I have to have an SD slot though. I am gonna wait for the Touch HD for full SD, not micro. Gotta love the even higher resolution of the Touch HD. All the Touch Pro has over the mogul is higher resolution, and an extra row of keys on the keyboard for the numbers, that I'll probably have to hold down for a full second for the (slow) OS to recognize.
And, you know, a faster processor, more RAM, more ROM, a better internet program and interface, a better overall interface with TouchFLO 3d, an accelerometer, and smaller size. Oh, and it ships with 6.1 instead of having to do the upgrade, which, yeah I did, but not everyone wants to mess with. Beyond that, exactly the same, you're right. :-)
So they crammed in all this tech into a phone and people are saying it's too fat? WTH is up with that? This phone has about everything. Also, what's with these people blabbing about it's looks like a phone has a glam factor. It's just a sweet new multi-functional smart phone people, not exquisite jewelry. I will get this phone for what it can do, not for how "cool" it looks as I use it. As for it's size? It looks to me like it's about the size and thickness of well...a smart mobile phone from 2008.

Yay it does have wifi!!
i haven't been able to confirm that before.
Not sure why you haven't been able to confirm WiFi. It's been part of the standard specs since the device launched earlier this year:

i just saw the diamond on sprint's website so i'm all the more "giddy" for that oct 19 release, it really can't get here fast enough XD
how is the thickness compared to the mogul?
i getting tired of my mogul but can't see myself upgrading to a phone if it's not thinner
It might be the thrill of getting it, or it might just be the "waiting" or having something to look forward to like crazy... loosing sleep and having dreams of being super productive. In the end its what i've wanted all along, a solid capable phone, it's like if Sprint renamed itself " The New Sprint " more bars in more...wait, they really dont use cheap gimmicks, needless to say, the products and awsome coverage sell themselves. No unbelievably crazy built up hype/ besides the hype its gets by its own merit. Hat's off to Sprint and HTC for coming through, I'm sure figures will correlate nicely. Here's to 2010 :]
at&t is very much the devil. Frankly i really cant wait until this phone comes out on 10./19. Experience the touch flo 3D and be the envy of the town (especially since i have been been talking alot of smack about the N96 which is also the devil, and the experia x1....ewwww)
Meh. Kind of late, but just in case no one saw it:
