iPod nano 4G unboxing, hands-on, and first impressions
We had a chance to paw this beauty on Tuesday at the Apple event, but finally getting home and spending some quality time with the device has given us a far deeper impression of just what the folks in Cupertino have done. So far our impressions are favorable: physically, the nano redesign is a move in the right direction for the company, leaving that awkward previous generation nano on the cutting room floor, and falling much more in line with Apple's current design language. The player feels solid and compact -- maybe a bit too tiny for our big paws -- though build quality is on par with the 1st generation iPhone. You can tell a lot of careful rethinking went into this, and there's not an edge out of place. We're going to be doing a full review of the device and its new software, but for now feast your eyes on the gallery below.

That's really ugly and small :s It's kinf of dissapointing.
Spelling mistakes x_x
Apple meanies.
I just started to like my 3rd gen and they hit us with what looks like a 2nd gen who has taken it's vitamins.
I don't like how the main screen looks, or the screen being tall instead of wide for TV/Movie fans like myself (who also have an aiptek).
Plus, it's like we're back with the introduction of the 1st gen nano (which I also have, sigh) being replaced by the aluminum 2nd gen. It's like Apple didn't have to make this because it's better, it's just smaller and thinner. I don't see why I should sell my two babies and get this monstrosity.
Hi, I have made a dynamic comparison table of the new ipod nano and the old ipod nano. The comparison includes around 70 criterias. It’s one of the most complete comparison table available on the internet.
Here’s the link

Very nice device, sory It's "still" 16gb, a 160gb wold be great... mabe in 2018
You... were aware that Apple already made a 160 GB iPod, right?
@Zak, (this is the 3rd time I'm trying to reply to you), but the software in the nano is diferent from the clasic now, you see big album art display (like the zune), and when you search by album you get the album art, just like the zune, and it have the nice dimensions.. too bad it don't have a 160gb version.
Not with solid state memory though. I'm opposed to the larger iPod design... I have a 2gb nano and the size and shape are perfect. I can see this new nano being a viable upgrade for memory purposes alone, never mind the new features.
Neeko, actually the screen on the 4g Nano is exactly the same size as on the 3g. All they did was turn it on it's side, slimmed it up and added an accelerometer so it feels more like an ITouch/IPhone (also so you can shake it like an idiot to shuffle a song for you). Personally I have big hands so the 3g Nano actually felt better in my hands than the 1g, 2g or 4g Nano (I owned a 1g before I got a 3g).
I'm holding out for the Nano Touch. Until they do something like that they can't improve things with the Nano and honestly I'm not willing to pay $149-199 dollars for a few feature upgrades I should be getting for free through a firmware update.
When you conduct your review, please don't ignore the new voicememo feature. Some of us are interested in hearing about the quality of recording on this thing.
Urine yellow! Coolest color ever!
Joshua Topolsky said: "It's yellow, but we've got waning light here in this corner of NYC, and the richness of the tone doesn't come out as much. They're very brightly colored!"
Reading ftw!
Drink more water.
Looks like a coffin.
dude why is the text fading? my eyes are hurting!
No kidding. I'm actually having to wear my glasses just to read it. They usually just sit on my monitor unless I've got extended reading to do.
Like the new nano ad says: Totally chromatic. I'm not really surpresed with the new Nanos, in fact the only thing that I think great is the colors. Nice psicodelic colors. But in this link you will find a lot of other interesting things for the new iPods. They always have new interesting things to shows us: http:www.applediario.com
Yuck. Please re-box and send back.
in my opinion apple has become unoriginal...i mean the new nano has that really bootleg look to it...
Doesn't it say 8G on the box?
Just called Best Buy and asked if they had the Nano 4g in store and the guy tells me they only come in 8 and 16 GB, had to explain I meant the fourth generation.
