3g doesnt equal GSM
Verizon and Sprint are on EV-DO which is also 3g.
3g is a type of network found on both EVDO and GSM
But by that reasoning, since the iPhone is 3G we should be able to use it with Verizon. Obviously, though, we cannot since the iPhone is a GSM phone. So how can anyone here look at or hear about a 3G phone and automatically know it is GSM, CDMA, or both?
3g on tmo and att is hsdpa, umts (gsm), and on sprint and verizon its evdo. knowing what company the handset is registered for lets you know what type of 3g it has...
ofcourse you can always use google...
So we can get this on sprint.com but when will it actually be in stores?
no 802.16e = no buy
Stopped by a sprint store on Saturday evening in Seattle area, they didnt have the phone in the store yet.
for initial release, they will be available online only and the stores will be getting it later. They didn't mention how long it would take for the stores to actually receive inventory on them but I can't imagine it would be too long for a handset that is going to be as popular as this one promises to be.
*yawn*
This device is the first WinMo device with Picture Mail capabilities!!! I thought it to be misprinted, but sure enough, directions are ACTUALLY in the user guide (with images and everything)! All Sprint WinMo users rejoice!
Is the best buy diamond a CDMA version? cause if not, then there is no decision. You have to get Sprint's if you want to be a sprint customer.
The issue with the keyboard or any programs going sluggish is so Mogul! I've been using the diamond for a month now (coming from a Mogul) and trust me, the crap loads of ram that they stuffed down our throats with this model practically guarantees your device not to slow down. I was myself skeptical @ first but the good folks over @ XDA have the medicine for whatever your diamonds' sickness is...
About the lack of physical keyboard, well I hated this phone first week cos I was so used to my mogul keyboard, then I decided to actually give the virtual keyboard a fair shot instead of being dismissive before I actually used it, now guess what... I dont miss the keyboard.
Then again different strokes for different folks
why does a phone cost more than a netbook?the demand is pretty big. so they should be able to lower the production cost..and i think the parts definately cost less than the netbook.
So -- I'm on My Sprint, and I can't figure out how upgrading this phone on my SERO plan will impact my monthly charges. Its not saying anything about the monthly charges in checkout.
Anybody else having this issue?
I'm not sure how credible the sprint online chat folks are but the lady I spoke to just now said I would not need to switch my plan to simply everything to get the rebate. I read a few posts up above stating something about needing to go simply everything so I was concerned. I'm eligible for a 150 credit but they are going to just give me the 200 instant savings. So basically I get the same deal as someone coming to sprint for the first time. Mail in rebates still suck but what's a guy to do.
Telus & Sprint WHY make it ugly from the back? WHY?
Style is a matter of personal preference, but I like the red back. Beyond that, the phone is now easier to use on a tabletop surface (the 'prism' back caused it to rock and be difficult to use) and the soft touch finish makes it feel nice in the hand AND doesn't get fingerprints!
Thus, I was pleasantly surprised when I went into the store yesterday and the phone didn't have the back I was expecting.
dear diamond touchy users
i have had the diamond touch from HTC for about a month -
it is certainly the windows attack on apple i phone -
Issue:the shape of the phone demands one to look before calling because shape in hand feel does not indicate phone placement in hand Issue: The phone is very touch sensitive so when you go to place it back into the carry case it may cal out again - to who ever-
Issue: hooking up your head set to talk or head phones to listen requires a separate USB style plug in for which no extra provision is made on the carry case - so you have to carry in your pocket - it is really unnecessary - a couple of jacks in the main would have sufficed-
Issue- they claim it is USB -and i guess it is but it aint no USB like you got laying around - the small end has a separate KINK in the plug in to make it unusable in any other device - more to the point to make any other USB unusable in their device _this may be a safety feature as the charge power plug is the same as the interface to your computer-
Issue: I have not plugged this into my computer yet cause the last thing i need is emails on my hand held that are already on my desk top - NO One needs my reply that badly - and if they do they will likely phone me -
Some of the ++ are -
++i can put in or create my own ring tone so presently mine has my wife's voice saying --hey Babe you've got a phone call
++ i can impress young girls and boys at a party with my --hey if you want to watch that video right now _ ;P :P
Issue: Battery life is only about 5 hours with my own regular use so i have to travel with the charger cord every where i go ... good thing i have an inverter in my Westphalia
I think i will be trading this phone out in a year when my phone replacement time comes around ;)
yours
Has anyone besides me noticed Sprint's been working extra hard lately?
duh dude, they lost something like 1/3 of their customers last year.. they need to get their game back so they'll survive.. this is certainly a valiant effort
ATTENTION IDIOTS!
All EVDO phones ARE 3g!!! Sprint has had 3g phones for over 3 years!!!! I think all of sprint's phones are 3g now.
Yes the diamond is 3g! Yes all sprint blackberries are 3g! You can get a 3g curve - stop believe att's hype.
I just ordered today. We'll have to see how it performs.
However, $60 for 500 Minutes, Unlimited MMS, SMS, Sprint TV, and GPS; is a real solid deal. Sure Sprint's customer service isn't great, but if you are anything like me I never call for support. Now I will say that customer service is very important from a corporate stand point, but for an individual...not so much.
The bottomline is that this is a solid phone. It is better/solid competitor to the iPhone, if you don't like it, get the iPhone, if you do great. End of story.
And I agree, Sprint has been working very hard to make a turnaround, let's see how they do.
Yea, they say you can buy them.
Went to a sprint store.
Me: "You guys get your Touch Diamonds"
Paul: "No"
Me: "Says you guys got them on sale today online."
Paul: "haha, yea, you can order one, but you won't get one"
Me: "Really"
Paul: "Yep"
Ordered one through customer service today (being sprint this took forever) but mine is shipping out on tuesday so... i suppose i am getting one. I called around to stores who didn't even know it had released yet and just claimed that the launch had been postponed... whatever.
If the Diamond's port is the same as the original Touch then you still should be able to plug in a regular mini USB car charger or data cable into this unit. I realize they have that extra ridge in the HTC plugs but their HTC ports should still accept mini USB. Give it a shot as the pins are still the same.
Wait so ok I asked a sprint store they said they wouldn't get it in for a while... and when you order it online it wont come for like a month. but then if you call customer servise they said you can get it in a week? Its confusing... help please
Nope,
I ordered mine, and they gave me free overnight shipping so I'll have it on Tuesday. Sprint is handling taking orders with their current stock before sending out the units to the stores b/c the demand is high for the phone so it saves the hassle of some stores sitting on phones while other stores running out of their stock.
I'm in for one as well!
Spoke to a service rep who told me I could add the phone on my SERO plan. Saved the conversation too, so hopefully they won't try to screw me!
Unfortunately... no matter how many awesome phones are released, if I cant keep my SERO account, I'd just stick with a low end phone to save money for the long run.
I will have mine in a few weeks. I loved my Excalibur and from what I hear this will make a fine replacement. Bye T-Mobile! Hello Sprint!
I ordered mine online and it said 2-4 business days for shipping
I ordered mine on the 14th with the overnight shipping, but it has been "processing in the warehouse" for the last 2 days, has anyone received theirs yet?
Got mine last night. Ordered on the 14th. They shipped the first batch just before midnight on the 16th. Was on my porch on the 17th. I'm in love! My PPC-6700 is going to the kids for a game boy substitute!
I just received mine today from DHL and I ordered on the 14th so expect it soon.
Got a email from sprint saying that the diamond will be in stores on the 28th of this month. You should probly expect the same kind of launch for the pro as well.
