C-MACC'S arcade cabinet plays every game, emulated or not

We have to admit, the sight of any arcade cabinet will brighten our day a little bit, but this so-called C-MACC's (Complete - Multi Arcade Console Computer System) cabinet built by Over-Clock UK forum member Mayhem is a considerable cut above the rest, with it not only able to play every emulated game out there, but seemingly every non-emulated game as well. That, as you might have guessed, was done by cramming a PS3, an Xbox 360, a Wii and a few other consoles into the cabinet alongside a decently-spec'd PC, with some authentic arcade controls nicely rounding out the rig (it even has some side-mounted buttons just for pinball games). All told, Mayhem apparently sank £5,000 (or about $8,900) and a few months of his life into the project, but he doesn't seem to have any regrets, and we certainly can't blame him. Hit up the link below to catch up with the project from the beginning.

highjumpman @ Sep 15th 2008 2:42PM
Don't tell me he forgot to put that one in!!
LondonConsultant @ Sep 15th 2008 1:10PM
I wonder if they crammed the greatest games machine of all time in there. I mean the Commodore 64, of course...
Boynamedsue @ Sep 15th 2008 1:12PM
I can see a regret. Trying to play wii, or several hours of xbox or ps3 play with the screen at that angle.
jupiterthunder @ Sep 15th 2008 1:20PM
Fail!
Just kidding. It's finally here. SKYNET!
Flashpoint @ Sep 15th 2008 1:23PM
I love the design of that cabinet. But, I don't think it would be fun playing Call of Duty 4 standing up using a big joystick.
In fact, wouldn't I need to use BOTH joysticks?
This isn't a PSP emulator.
TavisJohn @ Sep 15th 2008 2:39PM
Or DS
wootman @ Sep 16th 2008 12:13AM
WAAAAAAAAAAAAANT.
ArcadeBoy @ Sep 16th 2008 6:25PM

CraigJ @ Sep 15th 2008 1:27PM
But does it play.... Galaga?
Serial 8-Ball Mouse @ Sep 15th 2008 1:29PM
Sweet. I've always wanted to play PS3 on a small screen. Standing up.
...
Right.
Jake Tobak @ Sep 15th 2008 2:05PM
Look in the background, there's a tall stool to sit on.
wootman @ Sep 16th 2008 12:08AM
Yep, unfortunatley after sinking 8.9 k into a game machine he opted out of the chair, certainly a mistake he regrets now.
ArcadeBoy @ Sep 16th 2008 6:20PM
The screen is actually at smallest a 29" screen. Last i checked it was 29", that isnt small.
Bruce Sturman @ Sep 15th 2008 1:34PM
Very cool
Chad @ Sep 15th 2008 1:38PM
I'll take two.
Aud1073cH @ Sep 15th 2008 1:59PM
Oh finally! I've got a TI 99/4a game I've been dying to play.
MichaelP @ Sep 16th 2008 10:16AM
He doesn't know about that one - his first console was an Atari.
(Munch Man all the way!)
MichaelP @ Sep 16th 2008 10:34AM
Sorry - just noticed. The MESS is supposed to emulate a TI 99/4A. And about everything else I have or haven't heard of. Like the Apple ][ and /// and their variations, the Color Computers and their variations, the Commodores and their variations.
The Franklin ACE?!? Macintosh? PCs in various configurations? It distinguishes between the Intellivision and the Atari 2600?
Well, it doesn't emulate the TRS/80 Model 3 or 4. (I had a 4P), so it doesn't do everything. But it can emulate almost anything else you'd want, probably even calculators and watches.
mayhem @ Sep 17th 2008 1:33AM
It emulates game & watch as well. yip is does emulate the TRS/80 Model 3 and 4 with modfiers via mess (plugins) created by the TI communty a while back. I got the stuff from there own resporty a while back. there are a few systems missing off the list but i had problems running them as such the were not added. i think im missing approx 2% of systems ever created but to be honist ill add them when there is better support. I think it as say la vie (how ever that is spelt) ....
Lameise Hijazi @ Sep 15th 2008 2:09PM
drool!
Covarr @ Sep 15th 2008 3:05PM
Does it play Game.com games?
mayhem @ Sep 17th 2008 1:41AM
Yes it does. but very crudly. the Cp pannel doesnt work very well and there is a 2 second delay between moving and it reacting (still trying to fix that problem)
Hardcore @ Sep 15th 2008 3:29PM
How exactly does one play Wii games on this? Don't you have to be a certain distance away and holding a wiimote, how does one accomplish this while simultaneously looking down at an angled display?
TareX @ Sep 15th 2008 4:07PM
Why sit on a couch and play premium graphics games on your HDTV, when you can play them standing on a low-res tv for 10 times the price?
lorddshadow @ Sep 15th 2008 6:18PM
because 10x the price means: more consoles, more games, more fun, and more bragging rights.
naz @ Sep 15th 2008 4:34PM
looks like a storm trooper gonna jump out
Grey Acumen @ Sep 15th 2008 7:30PM
But can it play Doo-
*dies in a horrible ball of flames before finishing the sentence*
mayhem @ Sep 16th 2008 4:28AM
Do i blush now or later. to answer a couple of qestions for you guys ...!) play WII games on it is fun and since its a 30" screen the angle doesnt ruin it. 2) yes the stolls are for playing games and they work very well. 3) It wasnt made for FPS games. 4) All console controllers are hidden under nith the main controll pannel so you can play FPS games on the consoles if you realy need to. It have 2 controllers for each system installed and thats the PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360 , sega dreamcast, WII. There are allso anologe controllers for the PC and 2 Wireless Gutars and allso 2 LED Light Guns all fully working. The system only plays 1 system at a time. So if you are playing the PS3 the others all turn off automaticly. Hence you turn on the PC all other systems shut down. This is all done vear a wirless remote controlle. All the coin mechs work with games as well. (my kids aint half saving there pocket mony up). The system was mainly Built as a History of gameing and represent this in its form.. (excuse my spelling at has never been good)

I guess it's true what they say, a fool and his money are soon parted.
Oh, and where did you learn English, from your Dad's Sun newspaper?
MichaelP @ Sep 16th 2008 10:37AM
Interesting computer choices.
1GB RAM, and 1GB VRAM. And a 600W power supply, but that may be needed for the video card.
Two IDE hard drives and no optical drives - umm, how do you load software?
mayhem @ Sep 16th 2008 12:59PM
The specs are as follows ->
4 x 1 Tb samsung F1 Hard drives installed (pc)
2 x 350 Gb Ide Hds Installed (pc)
1 x 500 Gb Ide Hd Installed inside the Xbox
1 x 250 Gb 2.5" installed in the PS3
Intel quad core q6600
3 Gb Ram
6.5 Terabytes of Hard Drive Space (inc PS3 and Xbox)
Geforce 8500 with 1 gb ram (it was cheap)
Blue Tooth
Wireless
Xbox 360 to PC Wireless adapter
2 x LCD Light Guns
2 x Wireless Xbox 360 Gutars
32" Touch Screen Film Overlay
12 x 120mm Fans (to keep it all cool)
All software is updated via wireless / using dameware. There is no need for any optical drive's, There is 4 usb ports under controlls just incase to do any software upgrades but to be honist every thing works fine and there is no need to. There was no need to go for a high end GFX card as your only playing at 800 x 600 res (and lower). wich is the same as most arcades.
Nate DiDonato @ Sep 17th 2008 5:03AM
If you all were wondering, that cabinet is a very common arcade machine style in Asia. They're actually quite comfy to sit at for hours on a bar stool and play fighting games. Many even come with drink holders, arm rests, and ashtrays.
BTW, sure it can play any game, but you won't be using those controllers for a majority of Wii, Xbox, PS2/PS3/PS1, etc. etc. games that use more than a digital stick and 6 buttons.
I'm hoping a trackball in an upgrade, you're losing out on a lot of classic arcade games otherwise.
