HTC's Touch HD unveiled in very much official glory

We're still sans a press release, but a friendly tipster found this quite official page at HTC's very own site, depicting the sexy Touch HD from every angle, with every spec exposed. The rumors were naturally spot on, but that doesn't mean we're any less enthused about the 3.8-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera, and 3.5mm audio jack. Connectivity-wise we've got Europe-friendly HSDPA, GPS / A-GPS, 802.11g WiFi (we weren't clear on that one before), Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR and a microSD slot. On the software side there's TouchFLO 3D on top of Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro. There's also a front-facing VGA camera for video calls, 512MB of ROM and 288MB of RAM. HTC expects the 1350 mAh battery to score you 390 minutes of 3G talk and 450 ours of 3G standby, with 120 minute video calls just for kicks. The phone measures 12mm thick. Still no word on availability, price, or how you're ever going to stop us from cramming Android onto this thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple put the brakes on AT&T from carrying this phone on their network or threatens to offer the iphone to other carriers.

I think I qualify as one of the above-mentioned "Apple Fan Boiz" and even I am quite impressed by this device. The proof will be in the pudding, of course, I mean it looks wonderful and the specs are great, and if it responds and works as well as it ought to, I'm actually excited about a phone for only the second time in my life.

honestly, i dont think flash is a problem. i use the thing most of the day, and expect it to be of modesto quality, when shot at darker times. im more concerned with quality of the pix. i email them to my wife, and my 12 year old sends videos to each of us. i am semi aware, that sending them with a high res will require taking more space, so this would limit it to sending via wifi right? ugh i hate not being a tech savant!

This phone is totally sexy. Butttt.....

I've been using the Samsung Instinct for 2 months now and I'm almost itching for a real keyboard. I just don't see myself buying another touch-only phone after accidentally touching the damned thing in all the wrong places meanwhile my work gets spammed about my drunken debauchery the night before. Terrible I tell you. Terrible.

And why do people compare the Touch HD to the iPhone? Because it has a touch screen? I'm pretty sure that's been around for a while. Besides, the iPhone is like an expensive piece of crap you buy at Sharper Image because you just can't walk out of there empty handed. Especially after watching old ladies getting off in thousand dollar vibrating chairs at the store entrance. I mean, for crying out loud it must be so cool because you can shake the stupid thing to roll dice. Roll dice! LOL. I'm almost positive all the fanboys will have a lot more fun shaking the crap out of their d*cks at home all day instead.

Anyhow, the Touch HD is beautiful (albeit useless without a stylus). Because you'll need some pretty dainty office fingers to be poke-poke-poking all day long while the rest of the world passes you by. Honestly, I'm already sick of poking the Instinct all the time, let alone watching iPhone users grope and molest theirs too. And now HTC wants us to finger rape their latest and greatest? Real buttons please. Real. Buttons. Please.

This phone is already available in the US. I ordered one online from Electromatic Inc. for $600 and rec'd it 5 days ago. As a former first generation iphone owner I can honestly say that this phone blows away the iphone in every category including battery life. I'm glad I made the switch.
The best thing about this phone is I can record my TV shows from Satellite directly to an SDHC mini card and pop it into the phone and enjoy TV on the go. I'm using this with my existing T-mobile service and so far I have not had any problems.

Can someone confirm Electromatic is a bona fide site and shop?
When checking out they redirect to secure.systemsecure.com which is owned by some company in Canada (while their location is in Florida).
Shops usually have webshops on the same domain the site is on.
They also list having Touch 3G which I haven't seen anywhere else.
