You're exactly right...it's a great deal for the savvy saver...I personally would rather get the good'ol Canon 5d. It's in the same price range on ebay yet packs in the full frame sensor, can't beat it.

Even a used Canon 1DsIII goes for around $5-6K on eBay regularly ($8k regularly)

But then I would have to spend several kilo-euro extra to replace the (excellent) Minolta/Sony glass I'm using. So far for smart...
