Zune 3.0 update now available

The Zune 3.0 software update is now available, go get it! Unlike some vendors who shall not be named, 3.0 brings all the new features to generation one devices -- brown Zune, you never looked so good. We'll be back later with our first look. Meh, the one problem I have with the new software(not the firmware on the device) is that it now reads my Zune 30 as empty, IE-no content, when in reality I have 20+ gigs of stuff on it....*sigh*, this has happened each time the desktop client gets updated.

Why isn't there a bloody link to the Marketplace in my Zune application? It's missing where it'd usually be. Because of that, I can't use MixView.

I haven't seen anybody mention that Microsoft is introducing a 14 day free trial of the Zune Pass subscription with the update. I have to believe they will get some significant uptake in (paying) Zune Pass subscriptions with the new capabilities like Buy from FM and exploring music from Mixview, Channels, etc.

Very nice, software seems to run quicker too. Love the Channels, so far they have done a great job at hitting me with some great songs I hadn't heard. Haven't tried the device yet, but the software update is impressive. Great gift to wake up to this morning :)

The desktop UI still sux. I appreciate the new features and free upgrades to the Zune line but but we've been complaining for a LONG time about the desktop UI and still no revamp? Come on!

80GB still has no equalizer but clock, etc. is same. Clearly a sound tweak has been made however as the bass channel is much more pronounced.

Quicklist is gone!!! Now I can finally add music to what I'm listening to and not have to go running through the menus to empty the quicklist and then play it. And the new software is amazing! I can't believe how nice the new now playing menu and mixview is. I usually use a different player for music and Zune for updating my Zune, but I think that that may have just changed.

For you Mac user if you go to the Zune.net site and read in the technical section it states that you can install and use the Zune software if you have the current boot camp software install on your Mac. Just like someone wanting to install windows on their Mac's and lots of people do, you have to do it for the Zune software. This is one of the reasons why Mirosoft dosen't make the software for Mac's other they make software for PC's and besides there's not enougth Mac"s vs PC's to justify doing it!

Hi Guillermo, you just right click on the album cover and go down to Mixview. Not real intuitive, I know.

You need to be playing so kinda music before mixed view will show in the bottom middle of the screen you'll also find now playing there also. To turn off mix view just hit the arrow at the top left of the screen. You can also turn on now playing screen by hitting the little red button next to the players controls on the bottom right.

Got the Zune 80gb, and i didnt think MS was going anywhere with this anytime soon, but with this update, and a free trial for the zune pass, they made a believer out of me :)

By the way, I am in Hungary and i have no problems using my zune for anything, if your not in North America, order one on Ebay or something, its worth it

Installed 3.0. I liked my Zune 80 before. Like it a lot more now! All is good. Upgrade went well. I listen to music. Run basic powerpoint stuff on it. read books. Really ejoy the marketplace. And now it has games too. Hey, any way of playing Texas Holdum over WiFi?

Definitely will keep it!
