Google invites ASUS to join Open Handset Alliance
We're not sure if its recent spate of handset announcements had anything to do with it or not, but it looks like Google has now asked ASUS to join the Open Handset Alliance, an invitation that we're assuming ASUS expected to accept (or else we probably wouldn't be hearing about it). Apparently, Google is interested in working with ASUS due to its "brand recognition worldwide," although neither party seems to be making any sort of official comments just yet. Knowing ASUS, however, we're sure it'll find some way to work its Eee brand into the picture before all is said and done. Eee Phone, anyone?[Via VentureBeat, thanks Michael Y]

That's the stupidest thing I have ever read. I can guarantee you that pozzitron would have an intelligent, creative, witty insight for this comment board.
Quick survey: How much would you pay for a night of spooning with pozzitron?
I'd pay iPhone3G, Macbook Air, and $5508.23 in cash for that.

I know I've made some enemies in the past for "keeping it real" and "telling it like it is" and especially "thinking outside the box". My apologies to all of you who I've offended. So I'll part with 1 piece of advice: Get your prostates checked regular ladies and gentlemen. Especially the ladies....

pozzitron, you know we can all tell which comments are from you, even if you change your posting name? Shouldn't you be in school or doing homework?

I hope it looks better than the G1.

Perhaps Android would be a good [read:better] OS for a Netbook...
Charbax @ Sep 17th 2008 7:29PM
Exactly right. I expect to see the first Android powered $100 laptops shipping quite soon.
Android is the Linux OS by Google we have all been waiting for, it is not going to be limited to phone form factors.
TareX @ Sep 17th 2008 3:22PM
After the G1 nightmare to come, I'd suggest they focus their efforts on companies who can make prettier smartphones than Asus.

Cardbored @ Sep 17th 2008 3:28PM
Will we also get tons of Eee phones with similar but slightly-different specs? This engadgeter can only hope!
Omen_20 @ Sep 17th 2008 3:37PM
I think it sounds really smart. ASUS powers a lot of its apps for Eee on Linux with "tha" Google. Plus with Eee being so hot right now they're brand is kind of synonymous with cool little gadgets. I think this is a marriage made in smart phone heaven personally.

EeePhone VS iPhone
START THE WAR
Decoy @ Sep 17th 2008 6:06PM
iPhone comes before eeePhone
Except after cPhone.

There aren't going to be Android WVGA or higher phones for quite a while .. so I am not interested.

eeephone?
EEEKS!!!
BowserUSC @ Sep 18th 2008 12:48AM
I don't know. Apple might sue about the eeePhone in spanish speaking markets as the iPhone is pronounced eePhone and it would be detracting from it's image.
Adnan @ Sep 18th 2008 1:47AM
They can call it the A-eee-Phone and then really compete with the iPhone
