We're torn. Lenovo kicks ass in the tablet space, and the
X200t is no exception to that rule, but we were hoping for a little more "
X200" and a little less traditional Lenovo tablet action. Compared to its straight-up X200 namesake, the X200t is mega heavy, due to a different battery, screen and internals. It's not that it's bad, it's just a letdown compared to the insanely great engineering that Lenovo poured into the X300 and X200. We're also a little miffed that Lenovo hasn't worked out a
capacitive touch option yet, though they claim that the X200t's dual-purpose touchscreen has been improved, including a method for switching off touch automatically when the pen is in close proximity to the screen, to allow for some palm resting. They were just showing pen-only units this evening, so we didn't get to test that out. Everything else is traditional love-it-or-hate-it ThinkPad design, quality and touchpad-freeness.
So expensive. Going to have to wait for the coupons to come around or just get an X61T or take a closer look at the Dell Tablet with N-Trig. Waiting for those who got a chance to check it out to compare it with its predecessor. Worth the money?
I love my X61T. I like the new features in the X200T, but I don't think it's worth the money as an upgrade.
But i dont like the 16:9 or 16:10 wide screen
Lenovos are designed and built great, but I don't think I could deal without a touch pad. I used to be a track stick guy, too, but the touch pad is so much more natural.
Agree, I really hoped when Lenovo purchased thinkpad that this would change.
Yes, well... WXGA resolution kills it for me. Which is why I bought my X61T even when I knew the X200T was coming.
Damn, though.... 10 hour battery life?!
)insert ir sooo expensive picture here(
I really don't know what's going on over there at Lenovo, but what's with the off-center screen trend? Do they think its a joke or something? Whats next? Making rhombus shaped computers? I'm starting to get the feeling that Lenovo's designers are messing with us, just because they can.
It doesn't look to be too expensive: Bottom Line Telecommunications has already priced it, cheapest one around $1500. See my blog: http://edmundtse.wordpress.com/2008/09/19/lenovo-x200-tablet-pc-in-shop-and-priced-right-now/
Argh those idiots at Lenovo....why no capacitive touch? Such a disappointment!
Well, the only capacitive touch technology (that I'm aware of) for notebooks is made by N-Trig, and the prices for Dell XT that uses it are pretty high. If the x200t had this, it would only make more people whine about the price.
Why couldn't this have come out before my uni. classes started?! If this is anything like the x61t, minus the screen bezel separation, bezel cracking, etc, it'll be great. Plus it has the best keyboard of any tablet that is out.
The two-way screen swivel is kinda neat too.
Come on, switching off the touch feature when a pen is present isn't something new. My X61T already does this.
I'm more concerned about the writing experience on this screen. But I wouldn't expect too much.
Did they remove the IBM logo ?
yep, since this round.
With all the problems that the x61t has, they should replace all x61t owner's tablet with this one for a nominal fee...
I've been sending my tablet back every month for repairs until my warranty ran out and it still has problems.
Like the bottom half of the screen becoming distorted, and the only way to fix it is press the lcd bezels together....
LENOVO HIGHER-UPS HELP!! TECHNICIANS DON"T CARE ABOUT RETURNING THE LAPTOPS FIXED!!!
I had the same issue, I got in touch with one of the moderators at the official lenovo forums, who connected me to one of the higher ups in the customer service department. Long story short, I was given 3 options, return the x61t with a full refund (no restocking fee), sending the x61t to the "veteran" engineers to personally fix my problem, or getting a brand new one build and hoping that it doens't have teh same problem. I chose to get my money back. This was all done within warranty period, so if yours ran out, it might be to late.
Could you get me in contact with the person you talked to?
