Nokia's E75 QWERTY slider spotted in the wild
Espoo's usually a pretty cold place, but HTC's S740 has to feel the heat coming off Nokia headquarters now that the purported E75 slider has been spotted in its natural habitat. We don't have a ton of information about this thing, but considering the length of time that transpired between the E71's first spy shot and its release, we do know that we could still be in for a bit of a wait before this thing is announced, much less retailed. If Nokia manages to keep the thickness in check, we're thinking this could be a fantastic form factor for S60, Eseries or otherwise -- and since the phone borrows heavily from the ID of the beautiful E71, we're optimistic it's going to be a looker. Let's just get it out the door in a reasonable amount of time, alright?

is it just me, or was this only attacked by mr. blurry-cam's little brother?

It's just you.

Thanks for fixing that split infinitive; It was really bothering me.

It's still just you.

why do all good looking phones imitate the iPhone? :(
Imran @ Sep 21st 2008 11:24AM
Why do all idiots imitate each other?
Hashbrown Hunter @ Sep 21st 2008 11:41AM
...because they're idiots?
Christy McGrory @ Sep 21st 2008 11:10AM
Jesus Christ what has he done to that thing...
PatD. @ Sep 21st 2008 11:24AM
It borrows less of the ID from the E71 than the older E51 which it's practically -bar the slider- indistinguishable from.
Pdexter @ Sep 21st 2008 11:47AM
E75 seems be closer to E66, but all these devices should be easy to spot as Nokia's E series devices.
robothouse @ Sep 21st 2008 11:26AM
One of these days, I'm going to get my hands on a gadget that is not yet on the market and when I do, I'm going to post high-resolution, well-lit photos of it with detailed, technical descriptions. So, Fuck you Mr. Blurry Cam!
CJ @ Sep 22nd 2008 1:42AM
I doubt it, because your hands will be shaking so much from the exitement of having a yet-to-be-released gadget, you won't be able to take a good photo.
And then, in your rush to be the first to post pictures of said gadget, you'll not bother to take some better ones.
It's an affliction, and the birth of Mr. Blurrycam; he was conceived in a rush to get some, ahem, images on to the internet.
Pdexter @ Sep 21st 2008 11:44AM
These new E series devices have had amazing build quality(metal all around) thin and so on, but i'm not getting that back. Video that leaked about this device didn't show that wierd thing on the back.
Guy who have taken the picture did take the battery cover out or something?
Hashbrown Hunter @ Sep 21st 2008 11:44AM
...I just realized that Nokia phones aren't so good looking. Especially that one. The blurryness can't save it now.
Imran @ Sep 21st 2008 2:03PM
Sounds like what the doctors said about you.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Sep 21st 2008 3:54PM
ohoho clever. Your wittiness has made me feel inferior as a human being and I will no longer participate online.
Please man. There's no use for an attack on me. It's just my opinion of the phone's design. I'm not saying ALL Nokia phones are ugly, it's just not really the company's strongest point. I myself have a basic Nokia phone (the 2600 Classic) and the exterior is actually very nice.
Sheesh. The internet isn't any fun anymore.
Sfip @ Sep 21st 2008 11:56AM
If that back cover looks like on E66 and it's as thin as these receant E series devices it will be a looker.
Too bad with the Nokia policity to keep crappy cameras in E series compared to other Nokia phones.
L @ Sep 21st 2008 12:26PM
I think that crappy cam is less the result of a policy (after all, the E90 takes pretty nice pics), but rather that it's just impossible to have a good cam in a 1cm thick device...
john @ Sep 21st 2008 5:16PM
I just wish it had the same face design as the E66 (ie. no number pad). Full screen touch screen (like the yet to be announced tube), side slide qwerty, and T-Mo-USA 3G (maybe with UMA). That'd make me happy.
Oh, and, better reception than the crappy reception on the E71.
KilgoreTrout @ Sep 21st 2008 12:51PM
Nokia better concentrate on its "tube" model .
Untill it will offer that to the hungry technomasses it's got nothing to say to me; and even then unless it gets a grip on its ridicolously bloated and inefficient "Nseries PC suite" I doubt that I would choose another Nokia.
I know what I'm saying coz I spent the last 2 years with an N95 and then a N95 8gb in my pocket.
BTW one look at the 2 devices and will be obvious that htc S740 has nothin to fear by this thing
TareX @ Sep 21st 2008 1:40PM
This phone is by no means related to the rest of the classy E-series by blood. Ugly from the front, the back and from the side. YES it has the fantasy slideout qwerty AND numpad, but it looks bad overall.
Disappointed.
Johan S @ Sep 21st 2008 4:09PM
The display on this thing sucks. It can't be used for web browsing .. casually or not.
What the hell is wrong with Nokia? Why are all their phones stuck in QVGA?
Why would anyone pay hundreds of dollars for a stupid phone like this? This phone would have been OK back in 2005 or 06.
Maybe if this phone was priced under $100 .. without contract ..it could be of some use.
Hellaphunt @ Sep 22nd 2008 12:47PM
So, listen... it's a business-class phone. I think your employer would send you off of his roster if he knew you were just fucking around on your phone. I think it's excellent and a nice break from those super bad-ass HTCs.
tekdroid @ Sep 21st 2008 7:27PM
there's so much gloss and silver highlights on that thing, the only logical next step would be glitter. Seriously, Nokia. Need some fresh blood in the design department.
Ferny @ Sep 22nd 2008 3:03AM
HTC should be feeling the heat for the s740
they should hurry up and invent something along the lines of the Touch PRO.
spamcatch1 @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:23AM
No Blackberry connect? No thank you. Nokia really needs to learn that the cart can't pull the horse.
