Samsung's Armani Night Effect handset gets detailed, pictured
There was little doubt Samsung and Armani's latest tie-up was the real deal, but just in case you're more skeptical than most, the pair has launched a dedicated promo site to pump up the flashy candybar. The Samsung Armani Night Effect boasts a 2.2-inch OLED display, lots of LED accents, HSDPA support, a 3.2-megapixel camera, multimedia player, FM radio tuner, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, 120MB of internal memory and a microSD expansion slot. We're hearing that it'll be released this November in both black and white motifs, each running €300 ($439). Check out lots more delectable images over at Engadget Spanish.

Gotta admit, looks real nice and clean looking. Though waaaay to expensive for me. :P
Anthony @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:47PM
This is less expensive then any of the current Nseries phones. The "blueish" side is totally SE (K850i), the keypad is totally Motorola (RAZR series- flat metal look). Thin is definitely Samsung territory. Specs are crap but at least you can read Armani. Armani Exchange would be funny & more fitting (low end, Armani in name only).
BigD145 @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:55PM
This belongs in the $69 range. Toss in a 32GB SSD and we'll see it in the $400-500 bin.

@ cuban i agree.
it's screaming potential. it has the ability to be something amazing if they can tweak it a little. redesign the top half so it doesnt look like a zune flash and instead of the touch pad use the touch pad from this phone

Reminds me of the Virgin Mobile Slice.
phanbouy @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:43PM
virgin mobile slice huh? sounds S&M-y
Lowest Ranked @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:57PM
Love me that Virgin Slice. Now, what about a phone?
Shan @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:36PM
That Armani logo makes it look really cheap. Phoen doesn't even look designer enough!
bob sakamano @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:36PM
does this have facial recognition on the camera
Steve Jobs @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:51PM
If you want status symbol, just buy the iPhone.
Mike C @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:07PM
I agree with you completely! Everyone popular is always on the waning side of fashion trends.
For those of you less concerned with fashion and iconography, and are more pragmatic in your selection of mobile gadgets, please sit on your hands until the end of the year.
dark star @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:31PM
what kind of status symbol??
not everyone is proud to show they got it salad tossed by steve jobs
Mills @ Sep 22nd 2008 4:52PM
Looks very tacky, obviously aimed at the designer chav demographic.
The Chadd @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:38PM
It'll go great with those pretentious $60 A|X T-shirts, though.
cki @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:31PM
The design is nice but the glowing logos on the side just killed it! Perfect for label queens tho!!
Bender @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:37PM
wow a pretty much basic phone with a cheap looking logo for that price? what's next? a bluetooth earpiece for 300 bucks because it has an imitation-like BMW logo?...hmmm i'll take 8!
globerber @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:42PM
Damn i want one.
phanbouy @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:45PM
i'm sorry...
Brent @ Sep 22nd 2008 5:47PM
They could just replace the Armani logo with the word "Douchebag" and it would have the same effect.
brian @ Sep 22nd 2008 6:43PM
new jersey douche bags will be lining up out the door for one
Tadas Simokaitis @ Sep 22nd 2008 8:20PM
This phone does look cheap. I think that the design looks a bit oldish...
Andrew @ Sep 22nd 2008 8:29PM
Nice looking phone with a few standard extras. Not everyone wants/need GPS and web browser and video player on their phone, and this one is nice and slim. I don't think the price is excessive for a branded unlocked no-contract phone. The again, I'm in Canada and am used to paying $400 to $600 for my unlocked phones (SE 610 and then W810) so nothing looks expensive to me...
allenvanhellen @ Sep 22nd 2008 8:49PM
I'm not sure how I feel about this phone, but...
I'm excited about the possibilities with (what appears to be) blue led lights around the sides. It reminds me of the Nokia 3220, which was made for goofballs (like me sometimes), but had a realyl cool and useful twinkling effect every minute or so if you had a missed call, text or voice message or other alert waiting - it made it really easy to keep the phone on a table or desk, and not have to check it every now and then, because the twinkling lights would catch your eye and tell you to go check your phone. I've always hoped that Nokia - or someone else - would implment this sort of system on a higher-end (as in non-creaking plastic), more adult phone.
joueboy @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:24PM
I am willing to pay extra for that lights on Armani logo. Wait a minute I change my mind. Oh crap! This should on a crap gadgets on engadget's survey page.
Erick @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:44PM
These designers are running out of ideas. What's so special about this crap?
Artie Lange @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:27PM
The Dphone: where "D" stands for "Douchebag".
Josh @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:25AM
The D stands for Dracuuuula!
Kris @ Sep 23rd 2008 5:23AM
My word. that is a good looking phone. I'd buy one. If South Africa was actually on you people's map :(
KL Fairy @ Sep 23rd 2008 7:37AM
Well, I have to admit. It looks kinda nice. Would have love it with another Armani label, but who cares, for shallow and materialistic people like me, this is a god send!
A phone is not just about its features. It is about the styling and design. I doubt this phone will be given an award for best design but hey, it works? Doesn't it?
Remember the V3i with Dolce and Gabbana? Lousy features but sold ship loads!
kristjan @ Sep 23rd 2008 10:22AM
Wow, a phone that's got douchebag written all over it! How awesome is that!?
big al @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:12AM
what do you mean "You People's" that sir is why you are not on my map!
