Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge electric vehicle prototypes get outed
Seeing that General Motors left a gaping hole of opportunity for other automakers to produce a new EV by 2010 that isn't uglier than sin itself, it's no real shock to see Chrysler champing at the bit. Just this week, the company has introduced a trio of advanced electric-drive vehicle prototypes (simply coined Chrysler EV, Jeep EV and Dodge EV for now), one of which will mysteriously surface in 2010 for consumers in North America. Feel free to hit the read link for the entire hope-filled press release and the gallery of images, but if we've learned anything of late about those succulent concept shots, it's to not believe them (at all).

Jerro is absolutely right, how far will your internal combustion engine run underwater? an electric motor has no problem running fully submerged. It's all in the wiring for longevity which can be accomplished easy. Batteries can be fully sealed so that's not an issue either. Electric motors have tremendous amounts or torque which are perfect for offroad applications, in wheel motors will allow for torque splitting of unbelieveable proportions. Even the best ICE / Transfer cases cannot deliver 100% power to one wheel while the others sit still. I do in fact own and EV and it's amazing how simple they are. My motor which is attached too the rear axle has no transmission and 4 cables going too it and 4 bolts holding it on. I can have my motor out and on the bench in less than twenty minutes with only a 11/16 Wrench and a 1/2 Wrench! can you do that with an ICE? heck no. The wonderful thing is the sheer simplicity of the whole drivetrain. I'm sure a production version of whatever comes out will be much more complex but as far as any shade tree machanic, it's super easy to work on and install modifications. I can go on and on but I tell you, if everyone were too know how easy an electric car is in form and function, they would be so upset that this technology has not been deployed yet. it staggers my mind too think that no one but Tesla has gotten anything too the U.S. (albeit not in any kind of quantity)
