LG sells one million Prada phones globally, Prada II in Q4
In a brief press release, LG has announced total sales of one million Prada handsets worldwide. Not bad for a March 2007 launch. The bigger news though is that LG and Prada will launch a new handset in Europe in Q4 of 2008. Prada II, we're ready.

Androidable?
maybe, but the real question is
will it blend ?
blehh ... here goes another with plastic keys keyboard .. how lame, will they ever learn ?
looks neat but the OS is extremely crappy, would be awesome if there was a way to get android on there
It's still a sexy ass phone, but it's looking like the 3G smartphone wars are coming down to software and user interface, as they should be. If the Prada II is running on Flash like the first one, it doesn't look like it will amount to much more than a fashion phone.
running like flash?
seriously?
1 million pieces in almost half a year?
Thats about a day's work of nokia and
Even the iPhone had more sales than that.
Er... The first Prada was specifically a fasion phone. Hence why it's attached to the 'Prada' brandname.
It would be great it it DID become a smartphone, but in essense the first one was just a high-end dumbphone.
@CJ
And yet, if the rumored specs and leaked shots are true, this is a fashion phone that has ambitions towards being a smartphone. Why else would you include keyboard and 3G when the typical fashion phone is mostly used for texting, music, videos and the occasional camera. In that sense, these are flawed ambitions. The keyboard will add decidedly unsexy weight and girth, and the 3G will put it farther outside consumer price range. They're better off sticking to the "high-end dumbphone" market.
Actually Jatin380, 20,000 iPhones are being sold every day. Half a year? That's 3,640,000 units. "Even the iPhone had more sales than that", well, plenty more yeah. After half a year it had 20% of the smartphone sales on the market. So please explain the sarcasm? :)
was expecting the following comment when i opened this post:
"big deal, apple sold those many iphone 3gs in the first weekend itself"
couldnt be too far off.
Epic fail. They didn't even mention the iPhone, or Apple for that matter.
Love my Prada, but my B&O has it beat for quality :)
Now _that_ would have been an appopriate device for the launch of Google Android! I wonder why they partnered with HTC to release that ugly Dream instead of going with LG.
Well here is the problem, the LG Prada was given as a free from some carriers in europe, now they are doing the same thing with the iphone, Who the heck is going to pick a LG Prada over the iPhone when your carrier has both of them for free, come on, Who even wears Prada anymore
Well, the devil, for starters:

So there are at least 1,000,000 idiots who would pay so much for a regular LG phone. These are the same people who would buy a Leica C-LUX camera for 2x more than a Panasonic, which costs half as much and is identical.
I love the form factor.
I hate that my Glyde doesn't do it better. :(
Sooo...it took one of the original iPhone killers (the other one being the Samsung F700 / Instinct / Qbowl) 18 MONTHS to sell a million units?!? WORLDWIDE?!?!? This is the same Prada upon which loads of praise was heaped when it was announced by iPhone-haters here and everywhere else?!? There sales numbers aren't disappointing; they're absolutely PATHETIC. I've read on various websites that the Samsung F700 sold even less than the Prada!
I'm telling you, iPhone / Apple hate is curable. You must want to be helped, though...
Don't hate - celebrate!
Hmm?!?! I think 1M units is pretty amazing for this device, given that it has absolutely no appeal to myself. Think about it - for every 10 iPhones sold, one of these was sold as well. I think that's a lot, personally. Goes to show that Prada is a pretty strong brand, as is LG.
I do think that some of these international sales were to people who couldn't get an iPhone though so Prada II will sell fewer because iPhones are now available almost everywhere on the planet.
Well if you're talking millions sold. Nokia sells about 1.5 millions cell a day. How many did phone did Apple sold in a year, again?
??? How could it be an "iPhone killer" if it was actually launched BEFORE the iPhone??? (By the way, most of the "haters" hate iTards, not the iPhone.)
@roach,
Nokia makes 102 models of mobile phone.
Apple makes --- wait for it --- 1.
Thanks for playing.
You're right...number should be base on one model. Lets not mix Apple laptop sale on different models (Macbook, Macbook pro and Air numbers)...oh, wait they do combine all laptop numbers!@!
@WickedEast
Now it is not nice to make fun of those of us less fortunate. I do like my iPhone, iMac, Macbook Pro and Macbook Air though.
I think the million mark is amazing for THAT product's market - Label whores... Most folks here would make a purchase based on the features of their phone of choice. It cracks me up to see the price tags on these overpriced "designer" phones (the TAG) that have features that will be outdated in six months
Hey roach.....
do not compare Nokia cheap and useless phones with the iPhone, it is blasfemy........try to learn something before talking....
Ciao, VIVA iPHONE
Cheap and useless?? so making calls and texts the core function of a mobile phone is useless?? how about you learning a lot of things before talking
Try to learn where to click before commenting, iTard.
Of course calling and SMSing is useless! DUUUH.
Sarcasm aside, Patrick, don't be a weasely fucker.
Love the LG Prada....such a great phone.

If the LG Prada get's Android then the iPhone doesn't have a chance. Apple will not be able to compete with Android, with Apple's rigid rules on software created on it's platform vs Google's java-based, open souce Android. If Android is going to be successful, it needs to get itself on some good quality hardware (sexy phones) and also appeal to business for Enterprise use. If Android can take away business from Palm and Blackberry, times are going to look good for Google.
