Toshiba's Dynabook NX laptop is sleek, not terribly cheap
Hot on the heels of its NB100 netbook, Toshiba is launching another little new laptop -- a 12.1-incher known as the Dynabook NX. The diminutive model comes equipped with a 1280 x 800 display, a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, up to 3GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD or 160GB standard hard drive, 802.11b/g/n, and a handful of the expected ports. No solid word on price, though Akihabara News is speculating the HDD version will run you about €1200 (or around $1736), while the SSD model will clock in at a hefty €1930 ($2793). The laptop is due out in late October, so if this sounds like your cup of tea, you might start saving the pennies right now.

Glossy handrest, silver-white keyboard, CHROME buttons... if you ever write a novel or movie on this, the title will likely be "The Soiling".

Well, I just hope I'll never have to shake hands with you then.
Pink it´s my new obsession
Pink it´s not even a question
Pink on the lips of your lover, ´cause
Pink is the love you discover
Pink as the bing on your cherry
Pink ´cause you are so very
Pink it´s the color of passion
`Cause today it just goes with the fashion!
Pretty, but ridiculous.
What's with all those extra buttons near the spacebar?
japanese keyboard layout.. :)
toshiba does not seem to like built-in webcams..
The config. is moderate and the price is seriously hefty ! EeePC 1000H would be a much better choice !
those roses totally looked like the ones from coolhuntings post last friday (with a little 'shoping) of Nick Veasey... really cool x-ray photography/art. dig yo!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't netbooks originally conceptualized to be "cheap" laptop variants specifically designed for light use such as browsing the Internet?
If so, then why are so many manufacturers out there making these which almost rival laptops, not only in price but in power too?
Personally, I think the whole "netbook" idea is ridiculous when you start exceeding $600 to just surf the 'net, never mind a $3,000 price tag.
This isn't a Netbook. Moron.
This is a laptop, not a netbook...
FAIL
Gaudy enough for ya?
You mean Gaudi, like the designer?
Oh never mind, it looks like s***.
Yes finally Barbie has a laptop! Hey Toshiba, this could be the cross branding opportunity of a life time.
so they just copy the ibm's notebook design right out of the box?
does toshiba have a design team?
why pink!!!
It's hard to imagine spending $2800 on a small laptop when we can get a netbook for $400, and the primary difference is Vista verses XP.
Ouch! 1.2GhZ?!?!?! My fully-loaded T61 cost $1320 (after IBM employee discount)! For that price I got: 2.5GhZ Core 2 Duo, 3GB of RAM, 160GB HDD @ 7200RPM w/ HDAPS, 1680x1050 Display, DVD Burner, A/G/N Wireless, nVidia Quadro NVS 140M, and Vista Ultimate (Try it for real, you'll love it too!)
I really hope there is something remotely special about this laptop.
please...this is an ultra low voltage cpu...........
Toshiba sucks. Warranty is even worse. They outsource their plans through ServiceNET and give you a run around left and right. I've had other big brand desktops and laptops and sub notebooks from SONY, Toshiba, HP, DELL, and Acer time and time again. I've purchased dozens for clients and my own company.
Nothing has consistently failed and sucked more then Toshiba (and caused damage, fire and heart ache). STAY AWAY!
