Microvision's PicoP-based pocket projector revamped for CEATEC
Now that pico projectors are actually headed to end users, we're seeing a number of companies hop in the fast lane to production. Take Microvision for instance -- these guys were taking their sweet time by introducing the PicoP beamer back at CES, and now we're looking at a freshly revamped version that has already begun shipping to OEMs for "evaluation and end-user testing." Reportedly, the device shown at CEATEC featured a "thinner, smaller and brighter PicoP engine and several image quality enhancements" over the unit displayed at CES, and it officially boasted a WVGA resolution that could be blown up to 100-inches in size. Unfortunately, we're still waiting to hear how long it'll be before this one slips into consumers' hands, but we've a feeling it'll be sooner rather than later.[Via AboutProjectors]

I hope it's sooner as well. Microvision seemed to have the most impressive tech of all the Pico projectors I've investigated.
Now what to do about all the visual pollution that will be rampant with cell phones having built in projectors. Dang whipper snappers projecting Pimp my Ride on my back...

Can't wait to see this technology in the next PSP.

laptops with built-in projectors =D. I can see lenovo or any business-centered laptop utilize this.

Already the chinese players have started manufacturing the pocket projectors, some chinese cell phone also got the projector inbuilt but when you look out for quality, I sincerely doubt the chinese mini projectors if they won't fry my retina or just fade off the image to make things worse instead of making them easy. I would rather wait for Microvision or Texas Instrument to roll out their engine into some trusted gizmo maker

Usually things gradually get smaller. Computers, for instance. With these projectors it suddenly went from large to pocket size.

I saw a guy in downtown seattle shooting video onto random surfaces last night with a TINY projector and an iphone... HOLY CRAP WAS IT SICK. Vivid color from 10+ feet away. Never lost focus on any surface or at any agnle.
