Nokia Comes With Music officially launches October 16, 5310 XpressMusic eats first
The 5800 XpressMusic is stealing the lion's share of the spotlight today, but the first S60 5th Edition handset out there actually isn't the first to get hooked up with Nokia's all-you-can-eat Comes With Music service. That honor will instead go to the lowly 5310 XpressMusic candybar, which will get access to about 2 million track downloads when it hits Carphone Warehouse in the UK in prepaid form for £130 (about $228) on October 16, a day earlier than rumored. Other models will have to wait, though Comes With Music versions of the N95 8GB and 5800 are both planned.

Its very attractive. But, I don't know how many average consumers would go for one of these over a new Blackberry, iPhone or Sidekick

Yes, because you can get those phones for £130 PAYG. I expect this will be £99 fairly soon. The 5310 is incredibly popular, especially amongst the younger market, no contract, pretty decent music functions etc. I'm guessing that they have sold more than the phones you mentioned, in the UK at least.

Oh, it took me awhile to realize that "5310" was not the year that it was being launched.

October 16, 5310? I think I already saw some fanboy camping out in line.

A friend of mine had one of these at work today in Australia.
picked it up on a cap plan.
I hadn't seen one before so slid off the back and removed the battery to check the model. Definitely a 5310. this is the thinnest phone I have seen in a while..
Pity no 3g.
So either someone screwed up or these things are out in Australia already.
Starsky @ Oct 3rd 2008 9:08AM
Chirs, I forgot to say. If you want pics and details of where it came from let me know.
Sy @ Oct 7th 2008 11:11AM
