I don't know if you are both idiots but you do realize that you are reading engadget on a 2D monitor? So even if they took a photo it would still look 2D. It has nothing to do with mockups.
Seriously, go to the site. The photos there look 3D (blue/red images). This is a random image of some guy holding a mixer in front of a camera, that looks like it is trying to represent 3D. I just thought it did a bad job of representing 3D. Sorry for having an opinion, back in line...
