First of all, the Xperia X1i manual, that most of you are reading is not the final production manual. Next, the Xperia X1i version is actually not for North America and you are not suppose to see T-Mobile's 3g 1700/2100 MHz band on the Xperia X1i.
When the Xperia X1a, the North American version hit the shores of the USA, it will have 850/900/1700/1900/2100 UMTS bands. What the FCC did for SonyEricsson's Xperia X1i was to give the right to be sold and use here in the USA. Although, the Xperia X1i can work on two North American networks, namely AT&T and Rogers. You will have people coming into North America from other countries with the Xperia X1i and they still will be able to use their phone with a sim change. I see on a lot of blog websites, where people are clearly taking the FCC Xperia X1i documents totally out of context. I believe Engadget explains it in the above article that the Xperia X1i FCC documents are for the Xperia X1i ONLY and not for the North America Xperia X1a version version.....!
