Gemei's A320 PMP borrows Sony's button symbols, forgets to say "thanks"
Look, we'll be honest -- Gemei's PMPs are among the few developed entirely in China that are actually worth a glance, and yes, we're digging the overall sleekness of the A320. But seriously, could we decide on something other than Sony's iconic button logos and a very blatant OS X-sourced wallpaper? Petty gripes aside, the handheld should handle a plethora of audio / video formats along with GBA games via an integrated emulator. No telling how much this thing will sell for, but if we had to guess, we'd put it somewhere between "dirt cheap" and "cheap enough."

Does anyone think PSP/Game Boy Micro mash-up (obviously closer to the Micro)?
Edmund.
Flashpoint @ Oct 4th 2008 9:28AM
Anyone who wants NES ROMS, SNES ROMS, TurboGraphyx16, Genesis or Master System, Gameboy, GameGear, should come to Chinatown here in NYC.
I bought a 2GB memory stick for my PSP with greatest hits from all these consoles on it to play on PSP and they work great. Splatterhouse, Ninja Gaiden 1, 2,3,3tc, Revenge of Shinobi, and a bunch more.
Chozo @ Oct 5th 2008 12:59AM
Yepp....pretty much,
like the Gameboy micro had a 1 night stand with his cousin of a Psp and has some freaky inbred child :P

Not to mention Apple's wallpaper, Creative's clear plastic coating, and the GBA Micro's... everything else?
Mike @ Oct 4th 2008 9:27AM
Also, Gabe, Y comes after X (at least in my alphabet).
Mike @ Oct 4th 2008 9:29AM
Ignore the above comment obviously meant for Gabe.
pixellust @ Oct 4th 2008 10:49PM
Clear coating, double shot? I think Apple owns the patent on double shot, eh?
wootman @ Oct 4th 2008 11:13PM
Eh? plenty of companies use the dual injection plastic, just look at the ds lite.
gabe @ Oct 4th 2008 8:00AM
Am i alone here on this but i HATE the Sony Buttons - i still get confused with where square triangle etc is - ugh..
GOd of War - always messes me up :(
Nonhippyhippy @ Oct 4th 2008 8:12AM
The rest of us learned to differentiate shapes in pre school....
gabe @ Oct 4th 2008 8:14AM
sure genius - lets not forget how conventional it is to know that B comes after A or X comes after Y as typical buttons do
or wait - did they teach us in kindergarten the numerical order of shapes :slap:
hinges @ Oct 4th 2008 1:13PM
Does X come after Y?
I'm firmly on Sony's side on this one - owning a DS and a 360 is really confusing.
Nonhippyhippy @ Oct 4th 2008 8:38AM
"B comes after A or X comes after Y" "numerical order of shapes"
Would "alphabetical order" not have made more sense?
Plus, after about half an hour of playing on a controller, you should have a bit of an idea where the buttons are... So you hating the symbols on a controller makes u out either to have a terrible memory or not be able to distinguish one shape from the other...
kingofwale @ Oct 4th 2008 8:37AM
when did "differentiate" shape become the same as "numerical order"?
Wwhat @ Oct 4th 2008 8:40AM
Indeed I thought preschool teaching toys were the ones having the 'patent' on simple symbols on things rather than sony.
I'm sure there were playskool buttons with circles and triangles before there were playstations.
Wwhat @ Oct 4th 2008 8:46AM
Oh as a words of support I do agree though that it can be hard to mentally link those symbols to some gamefunctions, there are no logical link in many cases, and if you play several games the whole thing can become muddled when there's no logic I imagine, one might tend to classify a circle and square and triangle as 'basic shape' in the back of your mind and then when they are all basic shapes you forget you must differentiate between the shapes to remember what function they represent.
bartoron @ Oct 4th 2008 8:52AM
Y comes after X.

Musouka @ Oct 6th 2008 4:39AM
Do you know that there is a cultural nuance behind these symbols?
http://japanesetranslator.co.uk/portfolio/playstation-symbols/
Every self-proclaimed otaku should have these memorized :)
Wwhat @ Oct 6th 2008 10:49AM
Interesting stuff musouka.

Gameboy Micro looks, PSP buttons and Mac OSX wallpaper. Nice.
"Petty gripes" aye? If it was anyone else youd be jumping down their throats...
Muhammad-Oli @ Oct 4th 2008 8:12AM
Anyone could have made that mock-up in photoshop in about 10 minutes. It's pretty average...
Jash Sayani @ Oct 4th 2008 9:18AM
Nice. Nintendo too copied Sony's buttons... I guess Sony is a leader in making gaming buttons... :D
Jhongerkong @ Oct 4th 2008 3:52PM
Are you an idiot, cause Nintendo made consoles way before sony did.
Jash Sayani @ Oct 5th 2008 2:53AM
I mean the Nintendo DS has new buttons that are used in PlayStation. They are not the normal Nintendo buttons !!
Str1ker @ Oct 4th 2008 9:28AM

China still lack creativity.
Bill @ Oct 4th 2008 8:27PM
Yet another proof that china is creatively bankrupt.
Dylan @ Oct 5th 2008 1:58AM
Uh, not really. China's practically a superpower at this point. Here at the US, we're bankrupt. -_-

LOL, it's like the last-gen iMac w/ Tiger, a PSP and a NDS had a baby sized baby.
St.Angle @ Oct 5th 2008 9:51AM
Gemei?
A Chinese brand.
Their products (I mean PMP) are like PSP,NDS or other...(older? NES?)
I mean they are very very very similar..
Eric @ Oct 5th 2008 3:25PM
Thank you?
