Nokia's 5800 XpressMusic to mature markets: see you in 2009

The Foundations said it best in their 1968 classic, but seriously, why let us down like this? Nokia didn't mind busting out a litany of press shots and all the specifications one could need to get amped up about the 5800 XpressMusic, but it obviously has something holding it back from launching in "mature markets" before 2009. In an announcement that's just as disappointing to the suits in Espoo as it is to those in North America and Down Under (just to name a couple), we've now learned that the touchscreen-dominated handset will only be available in seven countries in Asia, the Middle East and Europe before 2009 dawns. Even worse? Not knowing how deep into next year we'll have to wait for this thing here in the US of A. Catch our feelings spelled out in video form after the break.

Where were you!? Do you not remember the almost weekly complaints in anticipation of an announcement for the 3g iphone Engadget did?! And not only that, but you're taking this as if it's a knock on Nokia's products. The article is stating how disappointed they are the 5800 isn't coming sooner! Wow, your post really makes no sense.

It will be presented in Spain on December 1st, and it is said that it is the first place in Europe... don't know about the date in UK

Just seen three interviews with one saying UK will get the nokia 5800 before the years end and another saying before the end of October. Problem is the third says the first country to receive the nokia 5800 will be Spain around the end of November and the start of December. So which is right? all the people in the videos were senior nokia members. They were sent by email so I can't show them but supposedly they are on the internet. To cut the UK and half of Europe out is just foolish seeing as were nokia core market. Especially as were close to Christmas.

The device looks interesting, but the S60 will kill it. I love Nokia hardware and was really hoping one of these doohickeys will work with Android. Don't need that HTC crap. Btw, the touchscreen keypad on this Nokia sucks.

Matured markets???? U think USA is a matured market???? In what sense?? You guys in USA still have to pay for incoming calls...how pathetic? Matured markets are in Asia....highest mobile usage and least call rates are in India. Just because USA is "developed country" does not mean its matured mobile market....how lame!!! I pity u guys....have to pay when some one calls u hhahaha......
