I know some people don't like it, but I actually can't wait. Although, I guess I'll have to wait...unless anybody wants to help me blackmail Microsoft to get them to release it early. :P
Anyone really unexcited about this? From what I have seen, it makes navigating slower, and does not really offer anything new (aside from the game installs).
On my 20GB Premium, it will allow me to install 1 game, big whoop. From what I see, it gives a very marginal increase in speed (10 secs GTA IV bootup time), but takes an hour to install.
Sure there is lots of hype, But I can't see why, they are just copying Sony/Apple/Nintendo..
Sorry but last time I checked Sony/Nintendo don't have 8 person private chat, or the ability to stream Netflix. Come to think of it neither of the other two companies have a marketplace to rival XBL Marketplace...or even a network of users as big as Xbox Live. The only community I can think of bigger than Live's is maybe the WoW community. Get your facts straight before you say they copy everything. Thanks :-)
(I tried posting this earlier but I don't know if it went through...if this double posts sorry.)
I am actually excited, and the whole entire experience will be new.....The whole market is based off of ideas and concepts, and when someone comes out with something new, the only thing you can do is copy or improve or youll get left behind. I believe MS is trying to reach out to a multiple consumers, Wii hearted ones, and I personaly believe that, just because the front of the box looks different that whats inside wont change, the games will be the same and really, how much time do you spend on your Dash?? not much, so will this really matter if your a gamer? Probably not, this is only gonna bring new nubs the scence of a fight that we can curb stomp with pleaseure. Nonetheless its your Opinion, have at it.
I downloaded the play on media center, and now my ps3 has netflix and hulu, I have both systems. I was always talking trash about how the ps3 just sits there and collects dust, however for the past month my xbox has not been able to connect to my pc. It used to work exceptionally well....
@Cody: Both Sony and Nintendo are going to have multi-party chat, Nintendo even going the route of room to room chat. As far as a marketplace, Nintendo definitely has more gaming titles though MS has movies and the like. Xbox Live's community is not as large as the Battle.net community nor WoW, and I'd go so far as to say there are other PC gaming communities that are larger...not that any of it really has anything to do with this dashboard update. Having more of something doesn't mean they're innovating.
What people are getting at with the copying accusations are Sony's Home Avatars, Nintendo's Mii's and Channel Dashboard, and Apple's simplified menus that even the Wii is compared to.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

@Mike "they are just copying Sony/Apple/Nintendo"
lol, how did Apple get thrown in there? So now no matter what anyone does in any industry, it's copying Apple?

if it reduces the NOISE of the disc drive, I'll be really really happy! I have an elite (120gb) so i can load up the games i play the most.
@cody,
Sony has 6 person video chat with the PSN. So, MS is trying to catch up to what Sony had when they launched the PS Eye.
