all i can say, is that im confused ... and it does have to do with the RAM obviously but still ... watch arne hess over here at his site talk about a new unboxed x1:

THAT is not slow. matter of fact its quite able.
iPhone == jewelery, stop talkin about it, EVERYONE here knows it exists, its not the end all, ESP if jobs keeps "updating" the iphone like the ipod. next year the boom will be mms, charge you another $300 + new crazy ATT contract.
The X1 looks good - compared to most phones. If it was June 2008, I'd be excited. But I think they have slipped up by not releasing this before we got a peek at Android. I can't get excited about the X1 like I am about Android (though not so much the G1 version of it). A good phone, not a drool-worthy one.
I like the hardware, not so much the software. Pity, I'm traditionally a huge SE fan. I'd love to see SE+Android get together...............
I'm in work so I cannot view that Unwire video; I'm not able to install Microsoft Silverlight. How does the video on Unwire compare to the unboxing video we are all commenting on? I do understand people's negative reactions to the delay in switching from landscape to portrait mode, but it seems as if this has been addressed, according to some people, based on the newer version of firmware on the device/s they have used.
It's very tempting to get this device but I am hesitant to go out and buy it now. I think I'll wait a month or so and see how things progress as I'm sure there will be lots of comments, feedback and video of the speed and general usage of the device form users.
My friend just bought one and I wrote following about my experience of the keyboard and screen, in www.vantechmag.com
"especially offer a rather elegant slimline querty keyboard, that has a very good feeling and is very accurate (tested by me, with writing every letter twice and the Swedish version have separate ÅÄÖ too) together with a truly excellent high resolution touchscreen (3 inch 800x480 pixels and about 26cm2 compared with 19.4cm2 for Palm Treo 680) extra easy navigational system (with smart icons, called panels) and a strong battery (10h talk or 500h standby at GSM and 6h talk or 640h standby at UMTS / HSPA and 1500mAh) that you can change... Only 99cm3 (110.5x17x52.6mm, compared with 139cm3 for Palm Treo 680) and 158g... Quad Band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 with EDGE and GPRS, UMTS (tri band) HSUPA (for max 7.2 Mbit downloads) MMS, WiFi (802.11b/g) play MP3, AAC, MPEG4, FM radio, has miniUSB (for charge and sync) and a big 3.5mm headphone jacket... The keyboards slide function, does also feel excellent and very reliable... Then has it Sony's media player (as extra alternative) GPS (type aGPS that need the mobile network) and 3 months test version of Wayfinder (you can then save maps from your PC to xperia) 256MB free ram and take microSD (4GB is included and support 16GB cards) 3.2mp autofocus camera (without any lens cover, but an easy to wipe off glass) at "only" 5911sek with 4MB miniSD card, headset, extra pen and charger..."
The keyboard was actually slightly better, than the lovely one on my Treo 680 and nothing did feel slow!
But the extra sexy black version, has many shiny black surfaces that get very greasy...
