Sony Ericsson's W760a 3G Walkman now available on AT&T
It's been a long time coming (isn't it always with Sony Ericsson and AT&T?), but the January-announced W760 Walkman slider is finally hitting the US on contract. Announced today, the shakeable W760a will be available in AT&T locations, bringing with it 3G support, a 3.2-megapixel camera, AT&T Navigator and "full HTML web browsing." In case you haven't seen already, it'll be available in red, black and silver motifs, with the latter hue being exclusive to RadioShack for a limited time. Check it as early as today for $129.99 (with a 2-year agreement) after mail-in rebate.

I have a lot of friends that will be pissed when they find out this came. The got the w580.
really? a lot?
well not a lot but more than you'd think. teens really seem to like this phone, or the envy. I'm in the minority with a smartphone
i dont know anyone with an SE phone.
most of my friends, including me (teens) have iphones.
my friends are poor i only know one person with an iphone. =(
we're the lower teens
@Austin
We both know that isn't true.
It's pretty much the opposite in the UK. SE phones are massively popular amongst the teenage population, much more than the Iphone. Maybe we are just more discerning :P
@matt no you're right SE phones does kick ass in the UK because of Voda. There's a lot of phones that the UK has that the US doesn't. I tried out the iPhone and it's alright but I still prefer the HTC Touch Pro.
@fanman
i live in the richest area of metro atlanta. and go to private school.
believe me now?
My friends and I go to private school. What's your point.
This I like, Sony is killin' it.
answering your question, yeah, they think its kinda under spec'd
That was to bob sakamano/
Went to a RadioShack this morning and asked the guy there about it. They have the W760 for $80 out the door. No rebates.
The wait is even worse with Rogers and SE products.
It's a nice phone, I've been using it for 2 months now, but goddamn SE, a music-centric phone, that also carries the Walkman brand, and they put a proprietary headphone jack on it. Maybe I'm just biased because my doesn't work anymore (unless I keep it firmly pressed against the phone) but still, it's an incredibly stupid idea.
This was what killed the W580 for me. Open the box, and bam... dongle the size of my THUMB to plug my headphones into. Sorry, SE - thats a deal breaker!
I own the 580 and I wanted the 760 but 1) I couldn't wait and 2) I couldn't afford it but, it will be a great phone for those who want a more mature-looking phone. Radio shack has an awesome deal...$80 out the door. Whew, now that I could afford.
I want this phone. I'm guessing it's just the w580i with 3G speeds... but i like the w580i. At least they are affordable.
I would rather save a few more bucks and buy this instead of w580. w580 sucks because its keypad cracks, it's a well known design flaw.
I hear that. I've got a nice crack across my w580's "3" key right now! Other than that, I love the phone though. Great sound during calls.
You know what else is a design flaw? Using M2 memory sticks and proprietary headphone jacks. Ugh
That's not a design flaw, that's arrogance.
I got the w580i on contract last December--a month before this was announced!
The successor to my phone - with 3G! I don't know if this is only true for my handset, but I can tether it to my laptop and use it as a modem, and I don't pay for tethering! If I could do that with a 3G handset, man, wouldn't vacations be awesome?
No, leave your laptop at home on vacation and do something.
It isn't expensive ... forget getting it directly from AT&T or Radio Shack.
Amazon has it for 1 cent. ;)
Well my family owns Sony Ericsson phones - P1i, W810i, and Z310a we all use the same charger. Haha. What's special about this one?
um.. im planning to get this phone.. nd i was just wondering.. how much is it per month? nd is it good? oh and also.. for the walkman.. do we get headphones..?
im a new cell phone user.. so im just wondering bout getting this cell...
please help me.
No headphones, you have to find compatible headphones somewhere (who knows where) but it plays through the stereo speakers. The audio clarity is incredible and you can play music and surf the web at the same time. The phone seems almost perfect, but you can't seem to set it to not keep asking for permission for web access on some applications. I'd recommend it to anyone, it's very fast on 3G and works great with bluetooth.
