That one looks a lot like my hp w2007v display.
Mini-Display Adaptor? Does this mean that it won't be compatible with the old MacBook/MacBook Pros and pretty much every other Apple product before this day?
And this is surpirsing why?
It's apple.
You just summed up their entire philosphy and approach to consumers in general.
You just need a Mini-DisplayPort to DVI adapter. Hopefully these come bundled with the display...
@Hyperplasia - yeah, damn that Apple. And to think, consumers hate their methods so much that they're buying more Apple products every day. You might check their year-to-year market share sometime. You're obviously not busy watching the Texans win..... (They really didn't win yesterday either. The Dolphins lost.....)
@wy937 - There's adapters out there that go from Display Port to DVI (male to female), so you'd be able to plug an old DVI display into the new macbook pros with that, but from what I understand there's nothing that goes the other way around (DisplayPort female to DVI male). So plugging this new display into an old MacBook Pro does not appear to be possible.

Personally, I think this development sucks. How hard would it have been for apple to include a little bit of backwards compatibility?
So is this a TN 6-bit panel?
Is the tri-cable detachable? If it's built-in, you run a risk of trashing your $900 display when all you need is to replace a $30 cable.
Built-in speakers? Really? ...that's just stupid. Who pays that kind of money for a display and doesn't have a proper sound system?
I know a few people who would love this...
It is basically making a docking station for your laptop, if you are using a MBP and you have the screen down, the internal speakers get muffled... This way, you can carry out a Skype / iChat call without needing additional speakers!
Not everyone uses their laptops for playing music on... But I hope they are somewhat decent speakers...
$900?! You can buy two, almost three 24-inch with that.
WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO POST THE COLOR GAMUT!?
LED BACK-LIT!!!!!!
Why are they bothering with putting a isight on a monitor thats designed for a macbook? dosent the macbook already have an isight?
The iSight is in the monitor because that's where you look when you connect an external monitor to a laptop.
Right now, I have a MacBook Pro with a 23" Cinema Display to the right of the MBP. When I turn on the iSight in my MBP you get a picture of the left side of my face.
By putting iSight in the monitor, the image will be straight on rather than to the side.
I prefer the old Apple Cinema displays. I don't like the new black border. It looks like a Sony screen.
Well, Steve, like most of your other products, you can stick this one where the Sun don't shine, mate! ;)
I see the made sure the magsafe adapter would work with the macbook air....oh wait they didn't.
I take that back, i guess they did make it right. my mistake.
Apple doesn't use TN panels?
Looked at a 20" iMac recently ?
I can stop at an Apple store on the way home. P4P.
@fieldcar on pg1 even..Engadget comment system..does not work right the first time with noscript..
Now it just needs a touchscreen like that on HP's Touchsmart computer...
Then it would PERFECTLY complement the iPhone 3G...
Just a question, what's the refresh delay rate on this? The old ones have an abysmal 16 ms, which is sad because most Samsungs are 2-4 ms. Sigh.....
