Sprint unwraps Olive Green and Vibrant Rose Palm Centros
Maybe someone forgot to mention to Sprint that the traditional colors associated with Christmas are red and (darker) green, but it's coming awfully close to getting in the holiday spirit with its pastel-splashed Centros. The two "new" Palms (which were leaked last month) will arrive in Olive Green and Vibrant Rose for $79.99 on a 2-year contract, but that's not all -- they'll also boast a "soft-touch finish that feels smooth and comfortable in the hand," 128MB of RAM (twice that of the original Sprint Centro) and a microSD card slot. Have a look at the new duo as early as October 19th at select retail locations and beginning on November 2nd in Sprint Stores, consumer and business sales channels, and online.

I welcome the return of soft-touch finish. I've got it on my Treo 755p and it is delectable!

Gosh, Palm's really pushing the envelope with new unheard-of features!
pheer6224 @ Oct 14th 2008 1:53PM
It still matches the price.

They look so nice together
Fusion Fuzo @ Oct 14th 2008 10:20AM
dam thats a FUGLY DESIGN, and FUGLY OS, surely nobody would buy this!
7on @ Oct 14th 2008 10:27AM
I would buy it if I were on Sprint.
Fortunately I'm on a GSM carrier so I can use ANY PHONE IN THE WORLD!!!!!

Haven't you heard? You don't HAVE to buy one! Go to Verizon (this is Sprint) and Verizon/Palm will GIVE you $25 to take one!
And, of course, places like letstalk.com wil give you one free (at worst), too.

Well, After seeing the Blackberry Bold & Storm and the iPhones... And the Android phone....
I would definitely agree with you!!
trumpton @ Oct 14th 2008 11:22AM
Seeing as two million+ people have already bought a Centro, we can safely conclude that Fusion Fuzo is still working out the difference between his ass and his elbow.
I fear the outcome will be inconclusive

I hate the centro. Who can type on that keyboard (save for those with petite hands)?
eiki @ Oct 14th 2008 11:08AM
eye meltingly awful!

I had the Palm Centro before my first iPhone and it was one of the best phones I've ever had. Everything just worked, and unlike palms from the past, the Centro didn't lock up on me. It comes bundled with a nice video player, supports mp3s, etc. I don't really see what there is to hate about this. I switched to the iPhone because I'm a sucker for eye-candy, and respected a phone that let me sync outside of Palm Desktop, without booting Windows to sync.
I'd also like to point out that the keys on the Centro are raised. I have HUEG Negroid hands (yes, I'm a Big Angry Black Guy) and had no problems whatsoever typing on the keyboard. It's really not as difficult as it looks.

I like it; I just picked up a black centro on ebay for 99 bucks. gonna give it a try to replace my horrible samsung instinct. if i like it, ill probably end up getting the green one on ebay (due to the extra RAM).
i was quoted 260 bucks for my instinct from one of those cell phone buying sites. so hypothetically, i can get almost 3 centros for the price one instinct. who needs phone insurance when a replacement is so cheap?

I have looked and looked at iPhones and all the new phones and none - NONE will do everything that my black GSM Centro will do. I really think all those people who rag on the Palm OS have not used it. I have been using it since 2000 and I mean REALLY using it every single day for all these years. When another OS does all that my Centro does, I will consider it. Small keys, yes, but even with my fat thumbs and a little practice it works well.

while everyone's putting out phones with new features, palm continues to just put out new colors...

The original centro has a microSD card slot. I know I've got a 2GB stick in mine right now.

I just got a Blackberry Curve and I am seriously thinking of trading it in for the Palm Centro.
Honestly for me, with the exception of the Bold, I don't see what the appeal of Blackberrys are. I compared my Curve to my brother's Centro, and on the surface, without getting into technical issues, the Centro seems like a more complete phone than the Curve- built in camera and video recording, ability to watch you tube and other live media content right on the phone, word, excel and powerpoint built-in, nice form and appearance. My Curve has none of that- it has a nicer screen and easier navigation b/c of the trackball, but otherwise it's kinda boring.
Also, I'm getting a little tired of all the secrecy, rumors, and misinformation concerning Blackberry products and their release dates. I was trying to wait for one of the newer models to come out but there is so much conflicting information out there as to when its supposed to be released in the US and its performance that I am getting a headache and about to be turned off forever from Blackberrys. If someone out there can convince me otherwise, please let me know.
