CEIVA's 8-inch CEIVAlife / CEIVAshare digiframes now on sale
CEIVA's duo of 8-inch digiframes started shipping out this month, but it appears the whole world was too busy ignoring digital photo frames on the whole to notice and / or care. Originally announced at CES, the CEIVAlife features a surprisingly striking design, a 640 x 480 resolution display, a multicard reader to support nearly every card format you've ever heard of, WiFi / phone / optional Ethernet connectivity and an optional PicturePlan service that "automatically uploads photos and receives photos via camera phones, online or from a PC." The WiFi-ready CEIVAshare (shown after the break) sports a more traditional look and includes an 800 x 600 resolution LCD along with a more digestible $129.99 price tag. As you've likely gleaned, both can be purchased now -- well before the gift giving season arrives.

If you never reported on another digiframe ever again, I don't think anyone would mind.
They're just not that interesting.
Well, they have some time before the next apple convention.
I'm at work right now, and I have about 16 different digital picture frames behind me (not including the keychain ones) and I agree, they are not that interesting. They will sell well during christmas (like last year), but no one wants one that can connect to the internet to download pictures, or anything other than cycle pictures that are on the internal memory card or the sd card.
though, i really do like the sony one we carry, very nice quality dispaly.
Can you use this as a computer display? I wonder if it's hackable for input, and if so, what the refresh rate on it is. Be kind of a cool, cheap monitor thing.
You can get 19in 1440x900 monitors for $130 these days, so no not exactly cheap.
According to their write-up, you need the $$ subscription "PicturePlan" even to use the built-in memory card reader! Lame!
Pretty exciting debate, Don't you say?
Wow! Another digital picture frame! That's awesome! Wowee! W00t! This totally pwns!!!!11111 OMGWTFBBQ!!! W.... oh no, I just had an emission.
We've had these at best buy for about 3 weeks now, and haven't sold a single one.
No one is interested in these things. Plus, the whole PicturePlan thing is way too confusing for the only type of people who ever buy digital photo frames (non computer savvies). Also, like Chris said, they don't even work without the damn $6.99/month service.
You guys don't get this as techie people. While we might understand how to use and update the photos on a digital photo frame, our parents/grandparents might not. This allows them to enjoy a digital photo frame with more than one picture that automatically updates with pictures received on an email shared with family members. You take a cute picture of your son, you email it to your Mom, it's in her kitchen the next morning. The servers resize to 640x480, so it doesn't take that long over dialup, but even then you can leech off of a neighbor's WiFi or sometimes the recipient might have an internet connection, just not a photo frame.
You guys can trash it, but I see a great gift for my parents, who tried a digital frame in the past but couldn't go through the hassle of updating it. This will be an excellent Christmas gift for them.
If they could make one that my parents could use then it actually might be useful... ; )
