Nero LiquidTV | TiVo PC gets reviewed
TiVo on the PC just sounds good, doesn't it? Unfortunately, the in-house testing proved otherwise... at least with the $99 per year price tag tacked on for no good reason. Head on over to Engadget HD for the full spill, and don't be afraid to wear your TiVo pride on your sleeve.

I love Tivo but this sounds pretty bad. They're going to have to do better than that. And, I want a discount or forget it!

Like i stated on Engadget HD ..
"Doesn't support QAM even though the hardware does" and "Only works with capture cards with BDA drivers, so it didn't detect the CableCARD tuner"
Are you frkn kidding me ... What a useless program ..

Sounds like you'd be better off getting TiVo box and running it into your PC monitor. Yech.

I would much rather use MythTV.

Holy shit that looks UGLY! Why would they use an interface that looks like it was made in 2003?

Good foe users with multimedia PCs hooked up to a large LCD display..... But doesn't have Mac support.... Or else it would gain many Mac mini users...

I used to be a Tivo user until they eliminated the lifetime membership and I built a HTPC.
I would never pay for tivo. It's a ripoff when you can get Beyondtv, sage or mythtv. There isn't much difference between the two, they have no monthly fee and they have more features.
They would have to offer a lot more to compete with the automatic generated commercial skip and compression that these software offer.

I have BeyondTV and feel that it's the best option out there. I can't believe the functionality it affords the consumer. I think everyone should check it out. www.snapstream.com

I agree. I have been using BeyondTV for 2 years.
Just with they would add some cool stuff like YouTube integration and other online media access via remote control (and integrate DVD player into the Viewscape and not BeyondMedia)

As someone who has done business with Nero in the past (a commercial user of their DVD libraries), I would strongly recommend avoiding everything they produce.
Really really really bad support and not much technical competence.
Unless they've somehow bought someone really cool and changed their act, I'm not a fan.

That could be true but it's still the most powerful burning software I've ever used in Windows and it's all I've used in Windows for several years now.

I don't understand whats wrong with the comments. I have been using the liquid nero Tivo with no problems. My PC is hooked up to a 50 inch plasma. I have a regular Tivo 3 series in addition. Both Tivo's pick up 12 channels eight of which are HD channels and now I can record 4 channels at the same time shoe I going to by another one and record 6 total channels. I'm only using 2 non amplified antennas to receive channels. Netflix is offering 12,000 channels on December via the Tivo streamed and I already have a u torrent on the same computer for over see shows non-edited plus Hula.com and Netflix how needs cable com on people
