NTT says one of these days these boots are gonna charge your gadgets
Phone battery constantly dying as you wander from place to place, moving in and out of reception and leaving it straining to find a signal? You aren't alone, and if you're not the sort to wear a conductive dress (in public, at least) you may want to keep an eye out for some new kicks in the works from NTT. Their soles are filled with water, displaced as the wearer walks and forced through a tiny turbine. Current prototypes generate 1.2 watts of electricity, enough to power your iPod as you strut, but by the time these things hit production in 2010 the hope is to more than double that to 3 watts so that you can charge up your mobile, too. Sounds fantastic, but we're a little unsure about running wires down our pants to get that juice where we need it.

unfortunately users of these shoes wont get to enjoy their iPods and mobiles because they will subsequently receive a good beat down and have their gadgets stolen for wearing these shoes
JR @ Oct 16th 2008 10:27AM
I'm pretty sure the boots in the picture aren NOT the prototype.
Adam @ Oct 16th 2008 10:42AM
Guys, these are NOT the actual boots! They're sold at a lot of costume stores as "Pimp Shoes".

This is gonna be the best boot to wear in queer party
derX @ Oct 16th 2008 11:56AM
Agreed. Nothing says queer to me like a Puritanical shoe with a chunky, mini-aquarium-heel; 'twas fashioned by Reverend Dimmesdale himself between self-inflicted lashings.
Oh, aquarium--aQUEERium.
Lovely. Gay pride, get ready!

not a bad concept, but take a look at the design, atleast I won't wear those shoes ever.. if they look like this...
Dave @ Oct 16th 2008 10:37AM
I can't see that this would be good for the feet, you'd need a little extra movement with each stride, and the phrase "hideous platform shoes" springs to mind.
If you want power from walking, how about some small magnets down the inside of one trouser leg and some coils down the other leg so you generate some potential with every stride.
Platinum_Skeet @ Oct 16th 2008 11:00AM
Ah man this reminds me of the boots from 40 year old virgin....
