Sounds fantastic, but we're a little unsure about running wires down our pants to get that juice where we need it.

I can't see that this would be good for the feet, you'd need a little extra movement with each stride, and the phrase "hideous platform shoes" springs to mind.
If you want power from walking, how about some small magnets down the inside of one trouser leg and some coils down the other leg so you generate some potential with every stride.
