Xbox 360 consoles are already
dirt cheap in the US. Now Microsoft has utterly soiled itself through a series of Dell coupons dropping the prices of the Xbox 360 Arcade, Pro, and Elite Holiday Bundles by $30 (now $169), $50 (now $250), and $70 (now $330), respectively, just in time for the holidays. Better yet, we're talking free shipping and either one or two free game tossed in for grins. Hurry now, the offers expire on
Monday Thursday, October 23rd and it's not like you can afford to take the family to grandma's house this year anyway.

How long till Microsoft starts paying us to take these off their hands?
Pip @ Oct 16th 2008 2:33AM
Well, with games with Halo 3, Gears of War 2, etc. $169 is a great price. I'm sure many people will be glad to take this off their hands at just $170. 2 and half 360s or one PS3...
Remember the $169 360 comes with a free memory card or $20 20GB hard drive.
tcc3 @ Oct 16th 2008 8:56AM
I dont belive that it does actually. The arcades already come with a 256 mb storage card, so the NXE upgrade deal doesn't apply.
Vcize @ Oct 16th 2008 9:54AM
You can't get the $20 hard drive with the arcade (only the core).
However, the arcades do qualify for the upgrade of a 20gb hard drive + 3 months XBL for $29.99. Just as good.
Aron @ Oct 20th 2008 3:00PM
@Pip
Are you serious. the PS3 and the 360 are the same price..
It's almost laughable to compare the arcade or core pack, with the PS3's 80 gig model.
the elite package 360, and the 80 gig(currently the largest they offer) are both $399.
Lance @ Oct 16th 2008 1:57AM
Woot!
Hopefully Sony makes like a good monkey and copies Microsoft's move
Bjsfreaked @ Oct 16th 2008 6:11AM
Doubt it,
difference between companies and systems.
Sony won't think that for a long while.
giantenemycrab @ Oct 16th 2008 2:00AM
$169 for an Xbox 360?! HOLY CRAP.
Jonny @ Oct 16th 2008 2:33AM
200 if you get the 20GB HD Microsoft is offering.
LilTmac2003 @ Oct 16th 2008 3:01AM
$200 is incorrect.
It's going to be $190 for an Arcade w/ 20GB HDD. That's insane.
Well done, Microsoft, well done.
Apple @ Oct 16th 2008 3:02AM
$190,
You know numbers.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Oct 16th 2008 3:25AM
LilTmac:
$190 is incorrect.
MS will sell you a 20GB HDD for your CORE system for $20. If you have an Arcade (as this is), it's $30.
Since this is an arcade, that makes it $199.
That is, if MS continues the deal for Xboxes bought after the announcement. Since you have to enter your serial number and build info (including date), they may not extend the HDD deal to units sold after you were already warned about the NXE. Then again, they might.
UnixSystemsEngineer @ Oct 16th 2008 11:14AM
Good deal -- even with the economy in the dumper I wouldn't be surprised if they started having supply problems. At this price it's going to be REALLY attractive to those who haven't already bought one.
lawrra @ Oct 16th 2008 1:37PM
One important detail was left out: Expires 10/23/08 or after 350 redemptions. It's already over
kojo87 @ Oct 16th 2008 2:01AM
damn. they are making it really hard for me not to buy an Xbox
Metal Geario 360 @ Oct 16th 2008 10:18AM
Making it hard? LOL, My friend Its almost as cheap if not cheaper than some PsP's.
BLee @ Oct 16th 2008 2:03AM
whats the difference between the elite and the pro? other than color and hdd size?
o29 @ Oct 16th 2008 2:08AM
Nothing, really. It comes with a wireless headset.
Reader @ Oct 16th 2008 2:10AM
That's it really. 100 gigs extra.
Jonny @ Oct 16th 2008 2:33AM
60GB extra, HDMI cables, black finish
Tehseen @ Oct 16th 2008 2:34AM
@o29
Uhh, wireless headset? since when?
o29 @ Oct 16th 2008 2:52AM
@Tehseen:
Yeah, sorry, I have no idea where I got that from. Midterms are melting my brain.
Mobile Phone Diva @ Oct 16th 2008 5:17AM
Actually the specs do say the Elite has a wireless headset.
"Features and bundle:
Black finish design; 120GB Hard Drive
Black wireless controller; HDMI; Ethernet
Black wireless headset; 2 Free games "
Bjsfreaked @ Oct 16th 2008 6:14AM
Its not just colour etc.
Some people say its the chipsets inside. Less noise, works better and faster.
I think they spent more money on the inboard stuff to make them work better.
davedrastic @ Oct 16th 2008 2:04AM
I've wanted a PS3 for a long time, and been staunchly anti 360 for almost as long. But if these bundles have an equivalent price in Australia I'll be sorely tempted to get one. Actually I think they announced the release of these bundles a few days ago, gamespot.com.au, but I think the prices haven't fallen any further and are frankly too close to the PS3 price.
Drop the price in Aus, include Halo 3 and PGR 4 (as with that Target bundle) and you've got yourself a deal.
Dave Chappelle @ Oct 16th 2008 6:03AM
lol with our dollar? it has gone down like 35 cents in the space of three months!! LOL!! its too bad for us really we have to pay more for electronic devices now. did you see like two days ago it dropped 8 cents overnight? so what happens to PS3/Wii/Xbox360 prices? lol. Considering the dollar is about 66 cents now so around $250 for us. which is still not bad, cheaper than a Wii. but personally all these price drops do not mean a good thing, the console is loosing sales and may die before the next gen comes out.
i bought a Sennheisser headset of Ebay for like $70 from the US (it was buy it now) BOUGHT it and after i saw the price of the same good was now $95 LOL so i paid the guy.... 3 1/2 weeks later no sign of the item, no replies to two emails. Luckily his a powerseller, iv got excellent buyer feedback so paypal will hopefully give my money back and this guy will get anal raped by EBAY!.
Metal Geario 360 @ Oct 16th 2008 10:24AM
This is not a jab at your income or financial gains or losses.
But the 360 has been out since 2006, the Ps3 and Wii following some time after...
If you have yet to buy a console out of the "next gen trinity"...Your priorities are elsewhere, or you are pinching your money too tight.
Welcome to 2009 in a few months....
Lowest Ranked @ Oct 16th 2008 3:14PM
Wow, Xbox 360 came out in November 2005. So much for that theory.
davedrastic @ Oct 16th 2008 6:58PM
@ Metal Geario 360
I have a Wii thanks, have had for a while. And well done on identifying that I have other priorities, as we all do. The main relevant aspect of those priorities is to wait until the price of the PS3 and or 360 falls (in Australia). Personally I'd rather not throw my money at something that we know is due to fall significantly in price, as it has done in the US. And that's due to the combination of having other priorities, my income as well as being a tight ass (which I'm entitled to be).
BLee @ Oct 16th 2008 2:13AM
I already have a ps3.. cant wait for LBP and killzone.. but at 250.. the Pro looks like a pretty decent pickup.. but only 4 days to decide?.. i mull over my purchases like woah.. maybe there'll be similar deals down the line til xmas.. this next xmas in one of our worst recessions..
BLee @ Oct 16th 2008 2:15AM
grah! forgot to add xbox live fee.. its one of the best.. if not best.. features of the 360 in my opinion.. a must get.. how much is it now? 50?
oo.. bundle comes with SILVER?.. wats that? lol..
tim @ Oct 16th 2008 3:21AM
xbox live silver gives you access to marketplace and downloads and stuff. you need gold to be able play over live.
josh @ Oct 17th 2008 2:29PM
@ Blee
Dude it comes with a 1 month gold subscribtion. and guess what if you change your gamer tag you get a nother month free. i do that from time to time. lol... there is no harm in doing so..
Calvin @ Oct 16th 2008 2:20AM
The Dell Online Store says that the coupon expires on Thursday, October 23, 2008
c-dub @ Oct 16th 2008 3:04PM
Well thats just all kinds of stupid..I want one(sold my old one), but most ppl who Christmas shop dont START until thxgiving or Black Friday, which is kinda defeating the purpose of dropping the price.
They should extend it, or bring it back..NOW THAT would male more sense.
WaterBottle @ Oct 16th 2008 2:20AM
Are these eligible for the harddrive discount?
Byzil Mystwing @ Oct 16th 2008 2:28AM
This is what I'm curious about
jkswiss @ Oct 16th 2008 2:45AM
Dammit, I just ordered one. DAMN!!! I hardly have time to play my PS3, let alone another console. However, at this awesome price, its just too hard to pass up. Now I have to figure out how to get a connection to my room from my router which is quite a ways away.
Vcize @ Oct 16th 2008 9:58AM
You can use a wireless bridge (around 20 bucks) in leiu of the MS wireless adapter if you are looking to go wireless.
Intrepid @ Oct 16th 2008 3:14AM
$190 is incorrect.
It's going to be $189 for an Arcade w/ 20GB HDD. That's insane.
Well done, Microsoft, well done.

Blazeitup123 @ Oct 16th 2008 4:07AM
there are people who still don't have an x-box? wow, get it together.
cromas @ Oct 16th 2008 4:16AM
This really kills me...hard to not go for this price, but I have a sinking feeling this is to clear the rest of the existing stock before Jasper finally comes out.
Gino @ Oct 16th 2008 8:17AM
i was under the impression that these were the jasper chipset. hmmmm...
think dell will send us the serial numbers? =D
cassio @ Oct 16th 2008 4:36AM
damn,
really great offer. I'd like to buy it from germany, but it isn't possible. I'll pay here at minimum 179€ for a naked 360 Arcade, without games...that offer would cost for us European without tax 129€ - really great offer...hope that Dell makes an equal offer for us :)
I'll like to play GTA IV =)
