Audiovox exits the LCD TV business that no one knew it was in
Okay, so we're kidding. Sort of. Believe it or not, Audiovox actually was a very minor player in the LCD flat-panel industry, but no more. In an effort to counter "what is shaping up to be the worst economy in decades," CEO Patrick Lavelle decided to pull the plug on the LCD business and show 8% of his employees the way out for the final time. It's all good for the company though, because every worked-to-the-bone parent in America will be snapping up one of its Homebase Digital Message Centers.

Perhaps they can prop-up their failing consumer electronics business by making Blu-ray Disc players?
More seriously this is sad. I have actually seen Audiovox TVs in various places but they were neither the cheapest of the cheap nor the highest quality of the quality units. But each player that exits the game reduces the number of players helping to lower the cost of HDTVs.
Don't they own the RCA brand though? If so they're kinda still selling tvs
Audiovox LCDs were big in the aftermarket car accessories. I have a screen in my Suburban that was part of a dealer install. I've been happy with it, so it's too bad they are out. I thought they were doing well in this market. Does the LCD pullout include this as well?
Audiovox LCDs, weren't they available in Target? Were they available anywhere else? If you want to sucede, don't you need to make your product widely available?
they make under-the-counter kitchen lcd TVs. i have one, and believe me, they're horrible. there a very few under-the-counter LCDs to choose from, most from unknown brands like audiovox. i think it's best for the consumers that we have one less horrible brand. trust me.
