So it seems
Nikon had a press preview all setup for October 22nd, reportedly to discuss the forthcoming MX format. We're not precisely sure if this ties directly in with that
mysterious ad we saw at the front end of this month or not, but either way, it looks like the world will be waiting to find out. Reportedly, the new date for the conference will be on or around November 20th in Denmark, but we'd even take that with a hint of salt for the time being. In all seriousness, it's like Nikon is stuck in a perpetual warp tunnel of rumors, so don't be shocked to hear something else totally juicy between now and then.

from what I've been hearing it looks like they've been working on a medium format type solution in a traditional body. 48x48mm sensor and new line of lenses to accommodate the .5x factor of the new sensor. I have not seen or heard any rumors related to price. So unless this is sub $5,000 and won't compress my spine from the weight, I'm not interested.
Pretty neat. Now if they can just improve the video on the D90. Maybe even release a line of full frame digital cinema cameras to compete with RED and Canon.
translation of the japanese word in the image: big
romaji=ookii
(just a beginner... I get excited when I can read even simple words...)
やっぱり大きいっすね~
陰茎?
why do we think this is MF again? i'm not too sure, but the sensor doesn't look larger than FX to me

it would certainly be very interesting, but could 'big' not just indicate more megapixels? maybe this is an ad for the D3X?
Look at the lens throat - it's much closer to the grip than that on the D3. Not that that means much, but it could be a new mount system for larger imaging circle lenses...
ah, got it, I see what you're saying
it'll be interesting to see what they come up with :)
Judging from the reflection in the mirror it is definitely not a square (48x48mm) sensor.
If it's 48mmx48mm then the FX (35mm)-type lenses won't be usable on the camera. The image circle on each lens barely covers the entire 35mm frame. If the sensor was any larger it will mean a whole new class of lenses need to be made. That said, I'll be in line to get one and I'll sell my 'blads in a heartbeat.
Nikon's recent PC lenses have at least a 48mm x 48mm imaging circle, although they have a traditional F-mount. Gah... Nikon, whatever it is you got up your sleeve, I am one rather disappointed D700 owner.
I love my D3, D2x, D2h, D70, and D100.
48mmx48mm would require a bigger mount.
Am I the only one to notice the sensor size has a ratio of 16:9.
Photoshop ruler says it's actually 16:10 :B
16:9.......maybe good for landscape? MF cameras are also preferred for landscapes.
Anyway, I wish Nikon made something smaller like u4/3, not MF. They better no fall too far behind Oly and Samsung (and Sigma, I guess) with their versions of their APS-C (or slightly smaller) point and shoot cameras.
