A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
If you want an iPhone buy an iPhone. If you want a touchscreen BlackBerry by the Storm. I wish everyone would stop with labeling every new phone the "iPhone killer". I use a Curve now and an LG Dare. The Curve is my main phone, and I use my Dare for talking, the mp3 player, and VZ Navigator that I don't mind paying $9.99/mo for. When the Storm comes out it will be replacing my Dare. There's no way I'd use a touchscreen phone as my main source of email, texting, and BBM'ing though. It just seems too tedious.
Guys, I just went to a Verizon cooperate store yesterday and asked if they had the demo unit for the storm. She quickly responded no , but the real think is coming out November 4th. Take it for what it is...
she was probably talking about the BOLD, not the STORM

THING!! not think. Damn typo....
I need this without camera...

It's so funny to see everyone getting all worked up over these videos and how they compare it to the iPhone... They say that the UI is so much smoother, and that the internet is full html and renders much faster than all others... Yet, if I'm not mistaken, iPhone users can barely get 3G to work through AT&T and resort to EDGE speeds... Ok, so what good is fast rendering when your service is flawed? And, when will people realize that their expectations are overly high for these devices? They are expecting the performance of PC's or Macs that have 2+ gigabytes of RAM available. Remember folks, these devices have mere megabytes of RAM! The internet is not designed for these devices! Sacrifices will be made based upon size and what the phone is designed for.
Also, UI for the storm... Although this phone is designed for a different audience than traditional BB users, it is still not meant for those that love Apple. It is still meant to look professional to some degree. BB is the Business Man's phone. The iPhone is for the Indie Rock, artsy, eclectic type. It's not meant for those that are working 9-5 each day managing or running a business. It CAN be used for that, but lets be real... It's a cool device and Apple makes great products, but it's not meant for the business professional.
Simply put, the Storm is a promising device, even if it lags here and there and doesn't look as pretty as the iPhone. I'm sold...
First of all, I am a former VZW employee and continue to get inside info from friends that still work there.
1) No if you do not subscribe for VZ Navigator, you are not charged. Although, the VZ Navigator comes pre installed, you still must go through the subscription process in order to activate the App. However, if you chose to use GPS you MUST use the VZ Navigator. (see 5 below).
2) VZW is behind but only because they work out as many bugs as they can in the developmental phase, unlike its competitors.
3) Because of the limited space in the vertical position RIM opted to enable a "Pearl" keyboard with Sure Type®, while in the horizontal position the FULL QWERTY is enabled.
4) The Storm is Quad Band, however no Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) is required in the U.S., only abroad.
5) VZW does FORCE the data plan on ALL smartphones and PDAs. In addition, VZW (unlike its competitors) prevent or diables many 3rd party apps on any of their devices. Subscribers are FORCED to use their proprietary BREW, Media Center® (formally Get It Now®), and pay monthly fees in some cases.
For example, its Blackberry 8830 and 8130 both have full GPS capabilities and the Blackberry Maps application which uses the GPS capability for tracking and navigation. Verizon has disabled the GPS to all other mapping applications other than its own VZ Navigator, which is billed at $2.99 a day or $9.99 a month
In regards to Loosely_Coupled's comment, I must agree. I am a current Blackberry Curve user and from experience I admit that depending on the signal strength and how many apps you are running in the background, the web upload can be a bit slow, however this doesn't happen to me too often and generally the spped and rendering process is faster than other networks I have had the pleasure of testing.
That's it for now.

I compleatily 110% agree with YeahUp. Give BB some credit here guys. As YeahUp said, people are expecting theese phones to run like a desktop computer. No phone for a quite a while is going to be able to do that. Be appreacitive of this new technolgy, and sit back and let the conpanys figure it out! Remember, in somewhere around 50 years we went from this:

To this:

Now dont get me wrong, im not some 90 year old guy, i am and am speaking for the teenage generation, which is getting into more and more technology. I find it amazing something the first ipod which held around 8 gigs was a big brick, now technolgy has allowed us to fit 8 gigs into a SD card the size of your damn fingernail! Look at the iphone, the first iphone was great and all, but the most current iphone is better right? Apple keeps on improving and improving it. And with the storm, im sure (despite of VZW's history) that they will improve this new blackberry instead of making an entireily new phone right? So just give this phone a chance. It looks very promising. Im sold.
Verizon is known for locking the GPS feature to their crappy applications. I provide software consulting to local, state and federal agencies and the first thing I tell them is to stay away from Verizon Wireless. It seems like a nice attempt by RIM to keep its base that are currently curious and interested in the apple-like touch-screen features. Bottom line: No WiFi, locked GPS = why even bother!? Go for the "Blackberry Bold" from AT&T.
Let me just start by making it known how extremely jealous I am of all of you who were able to get a Storm reserved for you. For some reason, the stores near me are not offering any type of reserving and they all said 1st come 1st serve. SO I guess I am going to have to go old school for this phone and get to the store early and wait it out.
There's already a fans website http://www.Storm-Blackberry.com check it out folks.
i can't see the some pictures you showed, i'm also user of blackberry storm. Generally speaking, it work me well.
