Android rap shows the G1 love, gives Google some street cred
We really, really like where this is going. First came the Zune puppet rap vid, followed by the equally astounding Large Hadron Collider joint. Now, we've got a video for all you G1 pre-orderers that's sure to get your noggin' bobbin' as you patiently await the arrival of Android. And just as any true rap should, it unashamedly bashes the iPhone, Instinct and most every other "rival" on the market today. The best 3 minutes and 56 seconds of your day are about to occur -- click on past the break and get it going. Word?

HE'S DWARKSIDED!
GON @ Oct 21st 2008 1:16AM
You probably need to email the staff and confirm that it's you, that way you'll become a returning user rather than a new reader.

so far excellent phone.. too bad not many aps in the market. One of the reasons I bought early was due to free apps in the begining to save a bit of cash.
JG @ Oct 21st 2008 12:24AM
snap!
Eddy @ Oct 21st 2008 12:21AM

oakie @ Oct 21st 2008 12:46AM
same here.
and damn the keyboard sucks. i'm returning mine tomorrow before they're even officially released.
worst. keyboard. ever.
Jon Graft @ Oct 21st 2008 1:53AM
Care to explain why the keyboard is so bad?
who? @ Oct 21st 2008 2:23AM
At least there's a 'b' button.

the buttons are nearly flush with the backplate, they have no discernable "click" when pressed, and if you have small thumbs like i, it's difficult to reach some buttons due to the "chin".
and if you try to stretch it too much, you'll inadvertantly rub the trackball which then moves the highlighted textbox, forcing you to start all over again in some cases.
the OS is very nice, tho it could use just a little bit of polish to be truly "consumer friendly", but for anyone used to WinMo, you'll make the transition really, really easily. the browser is also, dare i say it, as good if not better than the iPhone browser, if only because it's aided by hardware keys to navigate instead of 1/4 chiclet sized icons.
i wish HTC had used a keyboard more like their previous offerings rather than this sidekick ripoff. this device could/should have been so much more, IMO.
oakie @ Oct 21st 2008 4:13AM
one more thing... T-Mobile's 3g data network is quite snappy!
i love the OS, and i enjoy the upper 4/5's of the handset. if they had lost the "chin", the keyboard would be a bit more tolerable as is... it really should have been "chinless", with the send and end keys integrated into the dialer, with just 3 hardware buttons along the bottom frame of the screen for home, back, and menu.
because other than a second way to open the dialer, the send key is useless. the end key is even more useless as all it does is turn off the screen.
gene @ Oct 21st 2008 12:24AM
Rap? Yes. Google street cred? No.
Muhammad-Oli @ Oct 21st 2008 9:13AM
Yeah and what's with the dying whale in the background the whole song?
o29 @ Oct 21st 2008 12:24AM
Oh snap!
(que many more poorly realized imitations of hip-hop dialect in 3, 2...)
kr @ Oct 21st 2008 12:26AM
Sadly, that was actually the best 3 minutes and 56 seconds of my life today.
o29 @ Oct 21st 2008 12:32AM

o29 @ Oct 21st 2008 1:43AM
Oh, seems I kind of misread your comment.

Jon Nelson @ Oct 21st 2008 1:29AM
I seriously think he's a glutton for punishment. He must get off on being low-ranked.
Not to mention his "rapping" straight blooows. I hear better rhymes from kindergartners.
kyle allen @ Oct 21st 2008 1:50AM
i hear better rimes from flashpoint... its still better than soldier boy
Jon Nelson @ Oct 21st 2008 1:50AM
@ collegekid13
Are you fucking KIDDING ME?!
You seriously think that's CREATIVE?!
You must attend a clown college.
DBrim @ Oct 21st 2008 2:11AM
Clown College? You can't eat that.
That advertisement had no effect on me whatsoever.
Poom @ Oct 21st 2008 2:14AM
ughhhhh Can someone ban iEye already???
Esat Dedezade @ Oct 21st 2008 7:47AM
Sadly that is actually the most thought he has put in to a comment out of all of his other comments... Makes you weep doesn't it?
Tejas @ Oct 21st 2008 4:29PM
Just in case no one picked it up... I was being sarcastic........... geez! :-P
Eric @ Oct 21st 2008 12:44AM

Doug @ Oct 21st 2008 4:18AM
OMG ZIIING!
Valicore @ Oct 21st 2008 1:39AM
Actually I thought that was pretty GD good for a fan rap. Hail to the android forum dude. Especially for the Android Bot's voice with a Midwestern accent.
dave lemke @ Oct 21st 2008 2:18AM
If Miss Muffy and the Muffin Mob ever went corporate ... and stopped swearing, they would have written this rhyme.
qrius @ Oct 21st 2008 2:49AM
that was dope!
unicore @ Oct 21st 2008 3:10AM
3:57 well spent.
Eric @ Oct 21st 2008 4:06AM
The G1 looks to me like a 3rd gen ipod photo with an FM tuner clamped on the bottom.... nice idea just a little short on the R/D for the actual phone. Turns off the ringer in the theater though, thats neat
RadicalxEdward @ Oct 21st 2008 9:03AM
Haha! I love the crack at Palin's yahoo account! lol. (^_^)
Don Corleone @ Oct 21st 2008 9:39AM
Totally gay. And I bet it's built to last about three months.
Valicore @ Oct 21st 2008 10:39AM
God, middle schoolers again."That's gay, you're gay, this class is gay, gay gay gay." And any real mafia or 'ndragheta associate/don would have more respect than you :p
Matt G @ Oct 21st 2008 10:42AM
Liked the rap.
Like the phone a lot too, won't be available in my area due to lack of T-Mob 3G. Oh well, guess I'm going iPhone :-/
me @ Oct 21st 2008 12:24PM
I got my G1 yesterday and its amazing. The iPhone is sexy and all, but besides that, does anyone really have any valid reasons why it's 'better' than the G1? (keeping in mind that the small keyboard is better than an onscreen keyboard)
