Don't let that "finished" rubiks' cube fool you. The steps too build this ergonomic laptop stand are dead simple: 1) bend hangar, b) stop bending hangar. Perhaps, therein lies the genus.
that's ingenious. now i finally have an idea about how to get my decorative dinner plates to stand up on their shelf in the kitchen (without wasting $10 on a plate rack).
I don't see any twisted-up aircraft storage facilities in the pic. :(
OK so it's a great idea, but what do I do with my Portege R500 which won't open itself up 180 degrees? Do I have to buy some sort of optional accessory? :P
Yeah, i don't know how heavy that Gateway is (in my experience, they are pretty heavy) but if the hanger is the only thing that holds the lappie - i'd say it's structurally unsound. One little blow and laptop is down, pulling along with it any media you may have hooked up to it (preferably a >500GB hard disk while it's actively reading or writing). I am not doing this with my Inspiron 1720 ... that big ole fat monster. And what the hell are they making hangers from in China? Industrial steel?
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
My comment below is grammar related, not spelling, so we're still friends, right?
"The steps too build this ergonomic laptop stand are dead simple"
Dont you hate it when people use the wrong TOO/TO ?
What a hideous stand. It just might suit my desk :)
Does not work with 17" laptops....

fyi that rubiks cube is a custom edition. its a DIY rubiks -_-
Do you guys seriously trust your laptop 'in' one of these?
And what's with the typos on such a short post? I miss the old times already.
Also, just guessing, but does not work with 42" plasma displays. Do not try this.
The hangar is ok, but using too instead of to is not cool.
I refuse to respawned to any of these comments.

1... b... good job engadget
I have never seen a hanger made of wire that thick anywhere...
there is no hanger
I won't try. I still want to use my laptop.
