AT&T kicks off BlackBerry Bold sales on the web
Some stores have already let a few slip out the door a day early, but for those of us who haven't left our parents' basements since 1989, turns out there's now a sweet alternative to heading down to the brick-and-mortar. The BlackBerry Bold's now up on AT&T's site ready to ship for $299.99 after rebate on a two-year contract, so go ahead and whip out the plastic. If you haven't been using a Curve or an 8800 lately, prep your unsuspecting thumbs with some hardcore workouts -- and if you have been using a Curve or an 8800, get those freakishly muscular, overbuilt digits out of our sights.

It's true about the freakishly muscular digits. My girlfriend compliments them daily.
Jon Nelson @ Nov 4th 2008 2:09AM
Nothing like some penis-sized fingers to satisfy her when you hit the sauce too hard.
Cameron Field @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:29PM
Getting mine tomorrow morning at 9am btw! Who else is going?
wallace @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:49PM
Wanna line up together? And unbox together?
derX @ Nov 4th 2008 1:00AM
Guys, be careful with you boxes.
dspalding @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:30PM
awwwww, no fuze yet?
Jake Lyon @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:34PM
Might buy it, although it is $100 more expensive than the iPhone 3G I am still considering to upgrade to from my iPhone 1st gen.
That tactile might be weird to go back to...
initialxy @ Nov 4th 2008 12:49AM
I saw BestBuy Canada selling it for $199 Canadian (with 3 year contract) on this week's flyers, and Perl Flip for $49. check it out, it's still there.
oGMo @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:38PM
Got one today. Decent. Evolutionary rather that revolutionary, but welcome changes.
Note that if you're trying to install MidpSSH, you might have to click the WAP link on the download page and go from there; I couldn't install it otherwise (error during installation).

I'm a PC, but you're a douche.
derX @ Nov 4th 2008 1:02AM
I am PC but sometimes I kick puppies on Tuesday.
Wait, brb...
haX0r @ Nov 4th 2008 4:17PM
I'm PC and Mac's don't have scalable servers.
Isaac @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:48PM
Thats... thats really expensive. I want one but I need to wait.
MastrCake @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:48PM
Let's see... I'm currently in a contract with AT&T. To get the Bold would cost me $550. For that same money, I would much rather pay the early termination fee (as I absolutely hate AT&T, but haven't made the switch cause I am broke) and buy a BlackBerry Storm with Verizon, who is about 10x better than AT&T.
It's a Win-Win. But like I said, I am broke.
MastrCake @ Nov 4th 2008 11:37AM
Well, that backfired...
Seriously, though, I just checked the cost to upgrade to a Bold and get this...
$999.99!
I dunno if that is a typo, but that is what my early upgrade account-thingy says.
Evangelion @ Nov 3rd 2008 11:49PM
Awesome. The Bold is a very sexy looking phone btw. =]
Pizzahut @ Nov 4th 2008 1:47AM
I don't get it. What so sexy about this phone? Half size of the phone is full of plastic keys. The screen is so tiny, can you possibly browse or watch video? For that price, RIM won't sell too many.
jason @ Nov 4th 2008 12:12AM
DONT BUY IT FROM ATT.COM
Wirefly has it for 199.99 with a new account. If you want to spend a extra hundred bucks just email me and I will send you my address.

Falcom @ Nov 4th 2008 12:14AM
my local at&t store was selling them today. I saw the demo unit, didnt realize its as huge as it is. Really nice phone, but too expensive.
Amoney @ Nov 4th 2008 12:15AM
I work at AT&T...sold about 10 by myself in a 2 hour period. Move over iPhone?
Eric @ Nov 4th 2008 12:24AM
$399 and then a $100 rebate...hahaha...no thanks AT&T, that's ridiculous pricing.
brian @ Nov 4th 2008 2:39AM
i totally agree, if your not eligible for an upgrade the phone is $999 THAT IS CRAZYY i want this phone but I dont want it that bad
notafan @ Nov 4th 2008 5:37PM
not true. the price will be $550. don't know where you got a grand from.
The WC @ Nov 4th 2008 12:35AM
All right, I'm sorry for sounding dense, but what makes the Bold so much better than the other Blackberrys that came before?
Falcom @ Nov 4th 2008 1:17AM
go check it out in person. The build quality over the curve is impeccable. Its a new class of phone compared to the plastictacular curve.(not that the curve is a bad phone, I had one before getting an iphone)
Jon Nelson @ Nov 4th 2008 2:14AM
I dunno..I've read quite a few articles regarding this phone, and it doesn't seem like it's anything to hoot about. I'm not trying to say that this phone is worse than another phone, I just don't see what makes this particular BlackBerry stand out from the crowd.
As for the build quality, everyone can appreciate something solidly built, but I feel function is just as important as form when it comes to smartphones. If RIM is only bringing half of that to the table with the Bold, than I can't see it doing terribly well, especially with that price.
Anyone care to further enlighten WC and I?
TopaZ @ Nov 4th 2008 1:34AM
Sprint. Get. When?
Fernando @ Nov 4th 2008 1:48AM
Another useless RIM phone.
Michael @ Nov 4th 2008 8:35AM
WTF? $999 no commitment price?! No way! In my account (which is a premier account using a discount with my employer), it says the device is $999 with no commitment (since I just paid full price for an iPhone 3G and still had to sign a contract I am not eligible for upgrade price)!!! On the regular at&t retail site it says $549! What's the deal?! No way I'm pay $999. I could cancel my contract and come back for MUCH cheaper. Something is wrong with that... I'm going to a store.
NYC User @ Nov 4th 2008 11:20AM
I'm a premier AT&T customer through my employer. Usually, the web site offers better deals. I'm due for an upgrade. For the Bold it gave me a $411 (-$100 rebate) price for the Bold. My local AT&T store was able to sell it for me for $349.99 + tax = $379.30 (-$100 rebate). Instant gratification plus a better price. I guess it pays to check.
Taylor @ Nov 4th 2008 11:49AM
AT&T doing their best to bring an iPhone competitor to their customers, but I think the Storm will take that cake. Atleast they went full screen touch.
Jack @ Nov 4th 2008 3:37PM
Does anyone know if t-mobile is going to carry the bold? I have seen different comments all over the web, but my t-mobile rep keeps saying they will have it. Don't knwo if that's true...
FPATER @ Nov 4th 2008 9:13PM
I try to do the change via CS but they said that the system is not allowing to order the phone
HiWEB @ Nov 11th 2008 5:10AM
Sweet Device.... BB and BES is better than iPhone for enterprise support. This device rocks, as the iPhone is still now a 100% enterprise class phone/device. I hope RIM sells millions.
Also AT&T 3G is the est 3G network in the states, blows verizon and sprint away.
