Sony Ericsson's new ad shows off the C905's camera and absolutely nothing else
An ad campaign shot entirely on a mobile phone camera? Well, Sony Ericsson -- claiming to be the first -- has done it, using the C905, ostensibly to prove what an awesome (8.1-megapixel) camera it boasts. The results can be found exclusively in December's issue of FHM, and are what Sony Ericsson Marketing Director David Hilton calls an "amazing opportunity" to "show off the capabilities" of the Cyber-shot. So let's just get this straight: your ad uses a professional model, a fashion photographer, professional lighting, and makeup, not to mention all that retouching, and we're supposed to be impressed with the camera? Okay, we'll admit it: we're pretty impressed.

Is it multi-touch?
Is she multi-touch?
At least, that's what people should be asking.
Don't think so but you can cut n' paste on it.
Now, if only that unnecessary phone wasn't in the picture...
Is it touch sensitive? I'm willing to touch it and see what happens...
The white balance is off :p
Agreed. Maybe it's just us, but the blue-cast on the top and bottom of the picture is pretty annoying. Maybe they added that in afterwards in post-processing for "effect" or something, in which case they are cheating anyway, IMO, since cheap cameras often do this. Because of the varying blue-cast and color inaccuracy, I'd say this is a terrible photo. Sure it's 8.1MP, but please... pixels aren't everything.
Do they give both? How much? :)
Blu-Ray is a bag of hurt, this - my friends - is a nice bag of sand .. Kudos to Sony & their new mighty gorgeous phone!
I wonder how much extra lighting they used to compensate for the camera's aperture?
Judging by the portion of the model actually in sharp focus, I'd say the aperture was pretty wide open there. No need for loads of lights imo.
@J. Baker
Such a tiny sensor should have a fairly large DOF even when wide open. Plus it doesn't look consistent. I suspect something else is going on with the soft spots in the image. Possibly some corner sharpness issues with the lens.
my gooh thats some sexy lines you got there
even the phone looks good on her
I think anything would look great on and in her :p well maybe not the second part as much but you know..
Well, folks, there you have it. Next time you see someone's fat SLR next to your phone cam, you can still boast that you can get a better shot. The camera don't matter! All you have to do is remember to bring your hot lights and soft boxes and grids everywhere you go. Since the phone obviously doesn't have a hotshoe or PC Sync cord (actually, that might be hackable through the headset jack), you can't bust out your cheapo e-bay "pocket wizards" and trip the strobes, the hot lights are gonna be your best bet.
Excuse me now while I go start an amateur porn site offering HD resolution everything using only my phone. Such cheap start-up costs! Instant profit!
Is this a -
(a) FHM adv
(b) a Victoria Secret Catalog
(c) SE C905 cam phone ad
I thought this was a high tech VSC adv...
is she touch-skin? she should be cuz she looks hot!
The picture was taken by the phone, but who knows how many details they fixed with photoshop!!..
I love the nothing else part.
umm, possibly any 8.1 mp camera phone can take this same pic, would look the same.
They are correct with advancing the camera fuction to sell it the the guys... but they also need to promote the vibrate feature in order to sell it to the girls...
This photo is crossed-over badly. The model's skin tones are going from blue> green> magenta> neutral> warm. Aside from there not being any color work done in post, because any art director would've required that the skin tones be fixed - they must've left that issue as-shot - I do see brush work on her hair in the upper-left corner of the ad as well as along her waist, since aperture DF adjustments are non-existent on this or any other camera phone and these areas have been considerably softened. I'd say with a fair amount of certainty that her skin has been spotted for blemishes, etc. What the ****, it's a pub.
