Really??? lets think for a bit... maybe (admit it) it is a mac with a picture of the windows 7 logo on the bottom... being viewed on full screen... just a thought... but Go Apple
Macs don't need windows to play games. Native games, WINE, Crossover Games, etc. OSX sucks for a lot of reasons, but application compat isn't one that's fair.
I'm going to get rid of Windows and play Far Cry 2, Dead Space, Fallout 3, etc. on a Mac or on a Ubuntu install.
At a staggering 2 fps. And that's if i manage to overcome the hurdle of installing it.
Get real. They cant even get Warcraft 3 working at anything but the lowest detail settings. For any real gamer, that is not an option. And considering Microsoft is already moving on to DX11, it will never be.
Those options are good for applications. They make no sense for modern games. And i can only play Half Life 2 so many times.

I have a GMA950 (old MacBook) and i get 60fps+ on Warcraft 3 on both my Warcraft in bootcamp on Win7 and my Warcraft for Mac at all settings MAXXED. So STFU, since the new ones got Nvidia 9400s....
Oh btw DX11, also canceled until the windows os AFTER windows 7, which is approx 2010, so good luck!

I'm not sure why some mac users get so defensive over gaming. It's your weakness, your kryptonite so to speak. Kudos that Apple finally decided to include a video card worthy of the price, but the OS[X] is still a limiting factor. Gaming is not Apple's focus in their laptop or dear god, their desktop line. I still kinda choke at a $3000 machine with a "8800 GT" max graphical option.
Apple's laptops are well regarded, as is their technical support. I'm not sure why you have to oppose the bleeding obvious fact that Macs are not gaming rigs. It's not the worst weakness in the world to have.
Achill3s is right.. I have a MacBook pro with Geforce 8600M chip (yes, the one that fails), and have had ZERO issues running Warcraft 3 @ 1920x1200 (EVERYTHING MAXED). I don't know what you're smoking - you may want to check the |.
The fact that Blizzard still supports the latest Mac OS' means a lot. Hell, all their games have OSX Installers that they released 10 years AFTER the game first went on sale as Win 95/Mac OS.. Starcraft with Leopard 10.5 is an exception (doesn't load with the latest pack), but this was a few months ago, and I'm sure they are looking at a fix.
I'm putting it this way: They're claiming W7 will have lower spec reqs than Vista, and I'm taking that with a grain of salt until it's verified. IT would be a fantastic thing for a major OS release to underspec it's predessessor.
They are taking shots at the banding thats seems to come from the angle the picture was taken at. The slight 'fountain' around the word windows, and the F6 key displays an uncanny resemblence to it.
you are truly ignorant for calling a mac book pro low class. it is probably the best piece of consumer hardware that you can get in a laptop. build quality is on par with the best thinkpad, and it has great, big, tracks of touchpad. the only downside to it is the excessive gloss. I feel the need to correct you, even though I will be voted down for justifying your comment with a response.
Only in South Park can hate and bigotry save the day
IMO, windows looks better on MBPs than it does on most laptops, although I must make an exception for the VAIOs and the Thinkpads.
Nothing native for right clicking, but left clicking works and you can get around most of the time lacking the right click. Or you can use a script to get a half-assed right click, or you can just plug in an external mouse.
I heard something about three finger clicking once but I had no luck with it, at least not in 7 with my MB.
Uh yeah. I think that if microsoft was smart then they would get rid of these naming schemes. But remember vista pre betas? they were called home and pro? Well same with 7.
MS stated that we shouldn't pay any attention to the Ultimate in the 'pre-beta' version of Windows 7, as they haven't finalized any of the SKU's for the final sale. That strongly hints at removing the different versions and returning to a simple sales method.
It does run it extremely well. On a Macbook there are a few driver issues, but with an external mouse it's very usable (plus driver issues are expected in a pre-beta). I'm impressed that not only is DWM slimmed down and much more efficient, but they also added back support for the 965 in the Macbooks that has always been capable of Aero, but never had a driver. I was pleasantly surprised to see Aero when I booted into 7 the first time.
I'd like to see a spoof of Microsoft's "I'm a PC" commercial related to this. Have a talking MacBook Pro saying "I'm an Apple computer, and I'm a PC." Then show two guys in iPhone costumes chasing it.
“While Snow Leopard is ostensibly just a polish and repair job, there've been enough changes under the hood so that plenty of things are likely to break.”

Universe implosion in 5...4...
This is an abomination.
Oh come on, the glare isn't that bad.
it's not exactly alia atreides is it!?
Winows 7 is for touchscreens, not glossscreens.
@eiki - I just started book three of the trilogy. MFing wonderful story!
Does not compute!
@ iEye
And you are just a bag of hurt anyway.
Definitely needs more touchscreen. What's up, Apple? Do you need someone to hold your hand through the process and show you how to do it?
that's what she said!
Really??? lets think for a bit... maybe (admit it) it is a mac with a picture of the windows 7 logo on the bottom... being viewed on full screen...

I see, this is how Macs can play games.

Crossover in OS X + TF2 = me, stabbing my eyes out in frustration.
Native is the way to go, screwing around with WINE/emulation is crap.
Awesome.
I'm going to get rid of Windows and play Far Cry 2, Dead Space, Fallout 3, etc. on a Mac or on a Ubuntu install.

Bad example. They just happen to have a Warcraft III for Mac.

kthxbai!
is this that big of deal? I mean, shouldn't you be able to install Windows 7 on pretty much anything with good enough specs?
Apparently W7 will run happily on a 1GHz Atom netbook with 512 ram (which is what Steve Sinofsky is demoing it on)
Heavy on the 'apparently'.
Yeah i really dont see what's so amazing about this. Microsoft doesnt limit their OS to a single manufacturers hardware.
I didn't think it was all that big of a deal either or else I would have sent in a pic of my macbook doing the same, haha.
@Decoy
what, so it's really really obvious?
@ Dani

It's just for the irony.
You might want to check if the universe is imploding on itself.
The universe might not, BUT I SURE AM!!!
@Ray
So you finally got rid of that constipation problem. Good work, little man!
Haha thats awesome!
I say, I call this a big bag of hurt!
The Apocalypse is here! "....Dogs and cats living together...mass hysteria!"
Next thing you know they'll want to get MARRIED!
^^
Best "Off-Topic Comment of the Day" award should go to this guy.
oh, how i love ghostbusters....
Hahahah!! I did laugh, that was good, so very good =]
glossy screen, bleah
But WHY?
Why does anything ever happen?
Because somebody can =)
Because
sacrilicious!
Best it'll ever run!
You have effectively managed to confuse me:
Are you being clever by saying "sacrilicious!" as in "sweet!" (albeit ironically artificial)
Or did you mean "sacrilegious" as in "utterly wrong, wrong, wrong!"?
Is the sacrasm missing or there...or both...or...?
Mmmm... sacralicious. *drool*
I get jokes
or is it craptacular
@ balls
Love the comment AND thep name. I just wish my name was Shaft so we could be neighbors!
we learned about paradox at school today. does this count as one?
more like an oxymoron
apparently someone slept through the lesson
You mean your classmates learned about paradoxes.
the water fountain background looks pretty cool!
Not to mention the addition of a dedicated F6 key to enable/disable it.
Someone let me in on the joke please!
They are taking shots at the banding thats seems to come from the angle the picture was taken at. The slight 'fountain' around the word windows, and the F6 key displays an uncanny resemblence to it.
the explanation was funnier than the actual joke...Good Job!
im sorry windows 7 that you ever had to be put on such a low class overpriced naptop.

In video, we could see mirrored backside "VERY CLEARLY". I surprised!
Those screens drive me crazy. Much
is it me or do the black keys on the lighter colored frame remind you of the Apple II?
OMG you're right! It kinda looks like an Apple IIe. It must be the lighting.
DEFINITELY.
I am amused.
Now if Apple would allow a reversal of the pic above, that would be life altering.
what exactly would the opposite be? WinBook?
OSX installed on hardware normally meant for windows 7. I'm not sure how you didn't get that. Or wait, was that a joke?
How could Windows 7 be put on this Macintrash?
This is sad. Windows 7, meet Core i7 + [anything except Apple]
Macintrash?! You should fire the guy who writes your jokes (especially if it's you).
I prefer "Crap-intosh".
Image of the day!
You bastards!
This is madness!
NO this is....windows ???
This is SPARTA!!
I know, I know. This is late 2008 but I couldn't resist bringing it back.
Awesome.
Quick! Get all your comments in before the anti-microsoft bloggers thread crap every comment!
Wow... slow news day?
Too Bad you wont be able to do anything , except maybe part your hair..
Gives a whole new meaning to the term two-way mirror.
That's like... A window, right?
Imagine seven of them, together
:-\
lol
would windows 7 be able to understand the mouse drivers? even with lack of button?
The button is still there... u click in the touchpad.

The most disturbing thing is that it looks they are using exactly the same font.
No, the most disturbing thing is the word Ultimate.
Oh jeez, not all those versions again!
Uh yeah. I think that if microsoft was smart then they would get rid of these naming schemes.
But remember vista pre betas? they were called home and pro? Well same with 7.
It's the Ultimate use of the same font, you fool.
He means the part that says 'Ultimate' looks like Lucida Grande font used in the works 'MacBook Pro'
MS stated that we shouldn't pay any attention to the Ultimate in the 'pre-beta' version of Windows 7, as they haven't finalized any of the SKU's for the final sale. That strongly hints at removing the different versions and returning to a simple sales method.
Oh God ....who invented the font? Xerox?
Cool!!!
Apple being forced to play nicely with others. Very nice.
Maybe I will scrub my iMac and put Windows 7 on it, it already looks like a better OS.

way to divide by zero!
Its looking pretty stable even if 6801 is vista with new features. Can't wait for the next build.
