DSi already hacked, greets us with a lusty 'Hello World!'

We love those two magic words: "Hello World!" It's not even been a week since the DSi's Japanese launch and someone has hacked the handheld, stirring up all our homebrew dreams in the process. The coder in question has yet to release any specifics, but the touchscreen seems to be blank (you can make of that tidbit what you will). Exciting, yes? Still, until any other details emerge we're inclined to be a little skeptical. Just a little. In the meantime, be sure to catch the glorious video of the event after the break.

good...good...
Ohhhh yeahhh, now I want one.
Hello World - or in the case of the Nintendo Wifi community hello all 3 of you.
Hi
Already? It should have been hacked a long time ago :|
How can something be hacked a long time ago when it just came out? Smart.
Ok ok I'm sorry for forgetting the [sarcasm] :|
Hello Lawsuit!
You guys always with lawsuits on the mind. You wake up...drink your coffee...burn yourself...open the kitchen drawer, then tear a lawsuit form away from a stack of 500.
How so? If I took a book and cut it up would that be suitable for a lawsuit?
If it was a book of dollar bills you would be charged with destruction of government property which is a federal offense.
@7on
How about Windows 7 on a MacPro? neeeee! ;)
you break it you bought it. oh wait, you already bought it so you have all the rights in the world to break it.
Not with Phoenix Wright by my side!
OBJECTION!
If "Yasu's" a dude, that's some nice manicured nails.
"The better to hack you with my dear" - Big Bad Yasu.
Interesting how this has already been hacked but not the new PSP-3000 models. Though Sony also made them more hack-proof on purpose as the homebrew community is more active and piracy much more rampant on that platform.
For the ds people need to buy special hardware(r4 carts i think their called) to hack it but with the psp its free so there for more accessible and easier to spread.
@deyanimay: Ehh, not entirely true. The last method I remember for installing custom firmware on a PSP involved an exploit in the Lumines UMD. So just as you would need to get an R4 card for the DS, you'd need a copy of Lumines for PSP. Rented or bought, it'll cost you.
Now its free because all you need is a battery which can be shared easily. And now its not stuck to one firmware, we get all the software updates. If the DSi turns out like that I might get one.
While this is a big step for DS owners and the DS scene what can you really do on a DS?
Yasu is the same dude behind YSMenu and the Paddle controller hack for Mario Kart. I'm inclined to think that any of his claims are real.
Yasu beat your Tetris Attack Time Attack score, with 1 minute to spare.

WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Loving the slightly grammatically whimsical use of the comma there.
"Hello, world!" just somehow sounds nicer to me than the more traditional "hello world".
Its funny about hello world.
My computing teacher (Im 15 and at school) tells people to use it. Neither she nor the class knows why when we are programming in VB6 (being taught how to make calculators and such :(, id much rather pull out my laptop and work on some PHP thank you very much).
Its funny since none of them no what its about or see the comedy in it since they are totally disinterested in it.
I knew it! Haha talk about a fail for Nintendo. They thought they could stop the hacking, but they were wrong they were dead wrong. Before the end of the year flashcarts will be working on it (even though they don't work now).
I don't think it's about stopping it completely, although that would be nice..
People bought R4's in their droves, and they're all going to be disappointed when they don't work on the DSi. It won't STOP piracy, but it'll put 'em off, (At least a tiny bit..) and that's the main thing..
Meanwhile.. I might yet get my games working on it!! Woot!
I don't think Nintendo even cared to make it hack-proof in anyway. It just took a few days to adapt to the new firmware. Hopefully the SD card will even remove the need for extra hardware to run unlicensed code.
Any DSTT user following the scene would have heard of Yasu Software.
They're the ones who made the YSMenu replacement loader!
