Canon EOS 5D Mark II sample video is very HD and very unofficial

Canon has already provided a few carefully prepared sample videos taken with its new EOS 5D Mark II DSLR, but those that prefer things a bit more unofficial may want to head on over to Akihabara News, which has new demo video of its own. Not surprisingly, the camera definitely impresses even when taken out of Canon's capable and controlling hands, but there's not much use in us simply describing it -- hit up the read link below to check it out for yourself (assuming your computer and internet connection is up to the task).

no, the jello can't be removed in post, not effectively anyway. very difficult problem, plays havoc with 3d tracking software. cmos sensors are the bane of post production facilities, all this talk of DSLRs replacing HD cams or 35mm rigs for highend production is giving us the Fear.
there's some research software that can minimise shearing in clean left-right pans, but can't do much about up-down, and definitely not handheld jellocam or strobe light artifacts.
don't get me wrong, i love where all this technology is headed, but rolling shutter will be with us for a few years yet. who knows, we might even get used to it, adding rolling shutter to film grain, shallow DOF and vignetting to the list of subconscious associations with 'that film look'.
It does have a rolling shutter, you can see it at 2:51, the windows of the fast moving train are tilted. But the effect should be negligible for everyday use.
Danm, my processor cant decode the video fast enough so it's laggy......
I think its laggy for most people... I have a Duo2core 3ghz... or maybe its another Quicktime buggy feature...
Yes, it play well in VLC... Fuck Quicktime! Im so tired of apple shitty softwares...
Why no 24fps... damn canon! they want to protect there HD cameras line... that one cost 3000$... please 24p pleaaase!
leave 30fps for the next XSI.
I'm getting the urge to watch Lost In Translation again.
Looks impressive, but i`ll wait for SCARLET... I have a really good feeling about it and it will cost $3K with the lens.
Way. Nice.
I think it really suffers from rolling shutter jello, check out the train that comes across the frame at 2:53, also check out the shots at the beginning, the frame seems to move uneven, like jelly. i think this is why they only cut slow and steady shots. short fast movements might be a problem.
another thing that i'm irritated is the pumping brightness, it doesnt seem to change the depth of field druring brightness adjustments which indicates that this is done with exposure in the sensor, i was not able to find any information about the manual controls in movie mode.
i'm also interested how the HDMI output performs, it would be great to record in a studio setup via HDMI to a Capture Card in a Mac and therefore avoid the H624 compression...
we'll see....
This is kinda old news...Luminous Landscape did a review with sample HD video back in Sept....check out the link below...

"Canon's capable and controlling hands"
what are you talking about? Canon had nothing to do with vincent laforet's shoot. If you haven't seen it, you need to.
Anyone know an actual release date for this camera? I've heard the 17th and the 28th... Can't wait to get ahold of one!
