Even robots love Obama
You know you've tapped into a cross section of America when even the robots come out in your support. The $250 ObamaBot stands 6-feet tall and regurgitates stump speeches by the president-elect while presumably cleansing the Earth of any naysayers. ObamaBot's University of Florida creators see the world as so imperfect, that they'd prefer to pal around with robots who would target their own planet. Run little girl, run... change is coming.

Is that child running away in fear?
ClarkyAC @ Nov 5th 2008 4:20AM
yeah.. theres a bear inside it
j_g_puff @ Nov 5th 2008 4:27AM
The child can obviously see beyond the cunning t-shirt disguise and into the blackened PCB of hate residing within the robot's metallic chest.
Luke D @ Nov 5th 2008 7:33AM
A pedo bear?
strider_mt2k @ Nov 5th 2008 7:56AM
ClarkyAC: I like this coffee WAY too much for you to be making me spit it all over my monitor this early in the AM.
Kudos! Well done!
trainwrecka @ Nov 5th 2008 12:25PM
ClarkyAC: Your High ranked, so this must be an inside joke. Please fill me in. I want to laugh with you, not just nervously laugh like I got the joke as I look from side-to-side.

She was actually just touching the robot curiously then running off laughing, not scared. I wish Engadget had linked to the Alligator article about it, here it is http://www.alligator.org/articles/2008/10/29/news/campus/081028_obamabot.txt
BrokenMonkey @ Nov 5th 2008 1:17PM
Sorry I didn't realize the read link went to the article I thought it went to the Wired Campus site as well.
I LOVE THE CAPS LOCK KEY @ Nov 5th 2008 10:49PM
She is running in fear of Obama. He says children who survive abortions do not deserve healthcare. {It's FACT}
Obama is in favor if slaying babies while one hand is still in the womb and the rest of the body is out. Sick minded fu**er
w @ Nov 5th 2008 4:22AM
Obviously the child is scared. A regular obamaton is scary enough, you can't put a child through this !
High Ranks make you sterile @ Nov 5th 2008 4:24AM
The Turing test is over. This is proof that artificial intelligence is unattainable. Someday when that robot has a career and a fami..... nevermind.

I'm a PC and I love Obama.

Obama
OSX
Idk, the O's to me look like they'd go together...which would leave PCs for Palin.
...but that begs the question who the hell gets Linux?

Yeah, wtf is wrong with me? Yeah, I'm going to bed. odd things happen when I'm tired and at a keyboard with a way to communicate with the world at large.
Odd things. Such as their eerie post.
I'm going to regret this in the morning.
....I think I've said that before....
Yeah, now I leave. Stop mid sentence; it's the classy thing to do. Do you thin--

Libertarians, duh.
Rogue_Genius @ Nov 5th 2008 9:04AM
@ derX
Your premise is flawed at a crucial point: machines running OSX are PCs as well.
The Apple commercials have successfully convinced people that anything running Windows is a "dirty dirty PC". Unfortunately for them, they don't realize that PC = personal computer. They come in different flavors. All the Linux kids are PC users, too.
So to clarify, Obama could be OSX. That would make McCain/Palin = DOS.
Good day!

Thomas Ricker, I must say you did an excellent job in acknowledging the results in a non-partisan manner. I especially love "The $250 ObamaBot stands 6-feet tall and regurgitates stump speeches by the president-elect while presumably cleansing the Earth of any naysayers."
Supremely tasteful. Oh, and like another commenter pointed out, "Run little girl, run... change is coming" = GOLD
maveric101 @ Nov 5th 2008 8:41AM
i had kinda hoped engadget could be kept clean of any politics, but i guess the US election is fairly important. handled well.
Burt Reynolds @ Nov 5th 2008 5:17AM
It doesn't look like he's powered by hope at all, more like sheer terror.
El Taco @ Nov 5th 2008 3:28PM
lol I was thinking
the robot is powered by hope? Wow, never heard of that technology! Too late though, we're almost out of it in the US

Hm.

How do I vote for SkyNet?
nick p @ Nov 5th 2008 8:30AM
haha funny.
Obama's got everyone behind him by the looks of things, about 2 thirds of elctoral votes?? massive.
well except for old white churchgoers (check out any of the broken down stats from the likes of cnn and bbc)
Anyway I'm looking forward to his presidencies :-) that's right, plural!
Tony Knuckles @ Nov 5th 2008 9:01AM
We all know America and all America's women have a much more sophisticated robot-killer armed and ready to set an example of this piece of inflated Obamanation junk and take it out like a dirty switch. No one stands in the way of progress.
If Obama can rig an election, it can rig its own escape from America.
cwj @ Nov 5th 2008 1:54PM
Always fun to discover the diverse points of view here at Engadget.

...that's my campus!
The robot just spit out words from Obama. Very weird. He was also at the Biden rally on Sunday. Crazzzy. Didn't expect to see school before I got there this morning.
Thanks for the shock, Engadget.

Mike @ Nov 5th 2008 9:28AM
reading from the above comments makes me wonder "have I missed the last 8 years of bliss?"....go back
to your Bush caves and collect your unemployment checks....as bad as things are, I think the old white guy
who crashed more planes in service then a local RC club is actually relieved not to have to take on this horrific
chore of picking up the pieces of the worst economic era since the depression...but all of you BO haters, keep
on focusing on hate, fear, lies...being a independent, I realize it is a way of life for you folks who really never
see that the far right has always been against you your entire life…yet you still don’t get it that unless you make
major coin you really are not part of their team despite your wet dreams....it amazes me to see and hear the
things said from all of you….as if the GOP train has not driven us into the ground with it foot still pressing the
pedal but you all keep beating your chest as the economy is DEAD…..
Mike @ Nov 5th 2008 5:11PM
Get over it nutjob. The repubs problem was that they acted like Dem's. They spent like crazy and let power get the better of them. This financial mess is just as much, if not more, Barney Frank, Dodd's, Biden's and Pelosi's fault. Obama is not the savior of the world. I hate to see how grumpy you will be in two years when you realize that Obama is just a man and that delivering all of his promises is not as easy as saying yes we can.
thedesolate1 @ Nov 5th 2008 9:34AM
