UWB is a signalling technology, not a platform in and of itself. Multiple platforms use UWB - Wireless USB, wall-penetrating radar...etc. Think of it like you think of RFID.
Just because they're not producing their own UWB chips, doesn't mean they're not going to continue to develop technologies like WUSB. Wireless USB is still a relatively new spec.
