[Thanks, Anonymous]
Update: Looks like Canada will get it first (in "one to two weeks") for $419.99. Thanks, Alex!

I'll take two

Wow, and it's actually affordable!
QWXGA? I don't think so: XGA is 1024x768. WXGA is 1280x768. QWXGA (Q=quad) should be 2560x1536.
This monitor is 2048x1152. One quarter that is 1024x576. That's approximately WSVGA (1024x600).
So this monitor is really QWSVGA.
i'm totally getting this. its so pretty!
testing!!
Yeah, but when are they going to release one in QWTFXOMGA? THAT'S the resolution _I'm_ looking for.
Isn't that an Eee model number?
Just piece together a few QXGA 15" Panels from IBM.
is it just me, or does anyone else not get why monitor manufacturers are going to QWXGA? Why isn't 1920x1200 not good enough? Or if 16:9 is really what everyone wants, why not 1920x1080? I don't get why anyone would want 2048x1152 when the amount of screen real estate is less than 1920x1200, and HD video will need to be scaled if full-screen video is desired???
Well, there are folks who use these screens for work, instead of watching HD movies or playing video-games. I may not be one of them, but I know some people who could use that much space for video-editing, image processing or, simply, bragging.

Please, Engadget, Returning users are far more numerous than New Readers. Make the Returning tab the default.
It's so you can view 2 pages full screen side by side. It's not really for watching video; for that you should be getting the 1920x1080 model.
Oh my god. I think I might be looking at my next monitor. Yeah, probably only a TN, but look at that insanely low price (though after taxes + EU tax it will probably be much more expensive) and the resolution!
Makes buying the new (yet to be released officially) 24" Mac LED Cinema Display seem ignorant.
This thing smokes that display at $899 vs. $419....
Haven't purchased from Dell in 4 years since I switched to Mac, who'da thought a Fanbouiiiiii going back to the roots!
There is a little difference between these two monitors... LED backlight and no TN Panel.
Forgive my ignorance... What is a TN Panel?
TN = Thin Film Transistor = bad vieweing angle/colors and black is more like grey.
TN stands for "Twisted Nematic", which is one of the various ways that LCDs can be made to work.
Glossy bezel = Annoying glare
(Almost as annoying as the horrible screen glare on the new Macbooks)
(Hee Hee Heeeee. Couldn't resist the opportunity to give the Apple Fanboys a kick in the nuts)
That said, Dell makes (IMHO) the best PC LCD on the market.
I own a 17", 22", and a 24" and they're all excellent LCDs
A couple months ago I bought a 21.5" Samsung Future Shop. I was hugely disappointed. The picture was ok, there was no DVI input, and the stand was garbage (it wobbled terribly any time I touched my desk). Shortly thereafter I went back to Futureshop and ponied up another $75 to buy the 22" Dell instead.
I'll pay for quality every time, and through use, I have a ton of respect for Dell.
Now on the Canadian Dell site at 309.99

That's the wrong model.
Where is the Display Port?? So I can use my new MacBook with it.
And I want some LED back lighting.
How about pivoting/twisting from Landscape to portrait mode?
tasty? in a tn panel? i think not. you might as well shoot for other monitors, as this is already at the bottom of the barrel. get at least a pva panel. dell is making crappy monitors these days.
Seems the link is down and they are redirecting to the home page. There is a SP2309W that they have on the site for $309.99 but it has much lower specs (1920x1200, 5ms, no webcam/mic, 1000:1...)

What a sexy monitor.

Just got mine in Dec. 22nd and it's awsome! Color reproduction is incredible. Barely even needed calibration. Glossy edges do pick up fingerprints pretty bad though. Web pages can be hard to read but not unbearable. Plenty of ports and a nice swivel base makes it easy to plug in things.
I'll agree with George. I got mine just before christmas, for $308 cdn shipped! I had picked up a 21.5" acer a month before that, that did 1920x1080. It was a great screen too, but I was more looking for a bit more resolution in a slightly larger size. I really like the screen, so much I considered selling my 1920x1200 2408wfp, though the one thing I would miss is the height adjustment and ability to rotate.
dwight.
