Fuze rears its glossy head in some AT&T stores
Can't be long now, right? First we had dummies, but these are the real deal, ladies and gentlemen -- a little over five ounces of HSDPA, VGA, TouchFLO 3D, QWERTY, and likely a bunch more letters and numbers we're not recalling at the moment. Retail Fuzes are trickling into stores as we speak, though they're apparently going under lock and key; as far as we can tell, none will be sold until AT&T drops the green flag. In the meantime, Sprint, pimp that Touch Pro of yours as hard as you can, because we're afraid your exclusivity is about to end.

This phone is all sorts of sexy.
Yes, sexy indeed. =]
Wait until you slide the keyboard open and get that blade unsheathing sound FX ;^)...
I'll be getting mine tomorrow morning. Tried today but they wouldn't pull one out of the back room for me :(
I wanna fuck it
AT&T is the devil!
YESS
**GASP**
(*runs to att)
Now if only Rogers would step in and get this phone; as long as the data plans are not the same prices as the iPhone.
Over Ted's dead body.. and from hearing the way he ended up in the hospital it should be there for a new years release!
Yes Yes I know tastless, but this is the same man who stood between the release of the 1st Gen iPhone in Canada.. so that is what you get...
Love your Commander Keen avatar! First computer game I ever player
aahhh memories....
iEye, Ted Rogers is the devil and I hate him. Nearly 90 percent profit increase and cutting commissions in half for workers just before Christmas. Bastard. And I'm not even Canadian.
@Dopefish:
I owned all six plus Keen Dreams; nothing these days compares to the level of fun of the old DOS games. Keen 5 was my personal favourite.
4 was always my favorite. I went ahead and bought them all off steam the other day, still find them amazing and incredibly nostaligic.
Still have the original floppy versions which in the "about us" section had a bit saying "coming soon, QUAKE...3d graphics in 256 colors, imagine that!"
I like that HTC is putting there names on the phones more. Many users of HTC phones don't even know they are using one.
Couldn't agree more. I've been wondering when they would stop the white-labeling business plan. I'm sure it helped in the short term to get there phones subsidized by carriers, but it's probably terrible for brand recognition which would have hurt down the line.
What would happen if the iPhone and Fuze had sex?
iFuze
They would Fuze.
Touch HD
iReFuze?
Steve Jobs would suddenly start to shudder, uncontrollable, violently, then start to collapse in on himself and turn into a black hole which eventually consumes this planet and beyond.
If they were both open and sensitive to each other's needs?
Phonegasm.
But open's not really what either does so....(shrug).
Question: Is the Fuze going to be available with a 2 year upgrade WITHOUT a personal PDA/data plan? Because I really would like to not have to pay 30$ more a month for a data plan.
From ATT's forums, I've heard no. From most other places, yes. I think it mostly depends on who your sales associate is. I've personally had a smartphone for 2 years without a PDA plan, just a basic text plan and unlimited media net.
And good luck to anyone trying to find one today. I've contacted maybe a dozen stores in the Las Vegas area since this morning without luck.
just an fyi, if you ever upgrade to another pda that media net plan will automatically be kicked off and can't go back on
Thanks, I didn't know that. But it kinda makes sense. It's hard to see anybody downgrading from a PDA/smartphone to a regular ol clamshell. I hope they don't catch my plan.
yes you can buy it without a pda plan you just dont get that 20 dollar discount
Hmm... my local AT&T store sold me the only one they had on Saturday!. ;-)
I'm gonna hold out till I see the LG incite(since the Omnia is pertty much dead for at&t) before I make a purchase. The Fuze is nice but I've had this form factor already. Odds are the incite will disapoint and I'd get the Fuze anyway.
This reminds me of a prank someone played on a person who did not scoop up after its dog...
But in this case you get to see the Shite before the unboxing!!!
:-D
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Ur funny.
get a life kid.
FuzeMobility.com is doing a nice job covering it, and have some very nice original articles for you once you have your device.
I second that, they're doing a great job for the obsessive among us.
I just wish they would have kept the name Touch Pro....I am not really Digging the Name Fuze. But then again Sprint already called dibs on the original name, so I can see ATT not wanting people to get the 2 phones mixed up when some people can not understand the difference from a CDMA and a GSM phone.
You can call it whatever you want.
Legitimate question here, not trying to be an idiot fanboy. lol.
Why is this phone a big deal compared to other touch smart phones? Seems to have all the same features but no Apps like G1 or iPhone?
Because people are sheep consumers that cannot stop spending $$$ every month on shite they shink they need...
i have found that the iPhone is the gadget that i will be content with for years to come... Once you have found your car/phone.. you will not be tempted to buy anything else no matter if it is $0.50...
handango is showing over 7000 apps for windows mobile at the time of this writing. it is the iphone and g1 that is new to the app game
Sure there are apps. Windows Mobile has hundreds of apps. They just don't have an app store model. The marketplace model makes it a little easier but the flip side is that the phone maker has a lot more control over how you get your apps. It's simple to install an app on a WinMo phone anyway and the number of apps makes up for the decentralized downloading. I have yet to find a replacement for many of my apps on the G1 or iPhone so unfortunately I have not had the option of trying either of these new phones. Sprint has had this phone a little while and honestly I don't know why they don't push this over the Instinct or whatever. I guess they realize that unlike our techie audience, many people don't want any learning curve and while these WinMo phones are some of the most functional out there, they aren't idiot-proof like the iPhone or some of the recent feature phones.
Its not actually a legitimate question.
Its an incredibly stupid question. Its like asking "Why is it a big deal that Barak Obama was elected president."
It just displays your total and absolute ignorance.
I disagree, i think it shows your elitist small mind. Yes I am ignorant on this topic. But unlike your ignorance I seek to understand not dismiss.
Maybe say something constructive instead of your poor association to national issues and a fucking phone. moron.
No apps??
There's a lot more apps out for windows mobile than there is for android and iphone...
and you don't have to jump through a bunch of ibullshit hoops to download them.
VGA (640 x 480) Screen Resolution is a big plus, as is the ability to install any application YOU want to, not only those that Apple says you can install on a device that you purchased.
vs iPhone - it's got a keyboard, mini-USB and our current smitten-ness with HTC
vs G1 - what has been reported (and I fully expect to agree) a better keyboard, Android doesn't play with Outlook, some popular files types (like pdf) yet.
vs both - WinMo's established thousands-deep software library. It may not be open, but development on that platform is goes back close to a decade now. No need for a "market", per se.
@cwj: thanks! Awesome info! Had no idea so many apps where already in place. Thanks for the comparisons as well.
@cwj:
vs iPhone: dont forget you can replace the battery, better camera (not much but 2mp to 3.2mp)
but iphone is thiner, and has a audio jack, cheaper
vs G1: G1 is a lot cheaper.. rofl..
For those of you that say there are more Windows mobile apps than iPhone apps, do some research! That statement may have been true last month, but as it stands today, there are more iPhone apps than Windows mobile apps. That is pretty amazing considering that app development on the iPhone is less than a year old, whereas Windows had app development since the original windows CE before smartphones existed. P.S., you have to count the jailbroken apps too. Don't just count the official App store apps, or else you'll be tens of thousands of apps short.
And Verizon gets the shaft once again. Why do they not have any good phones?
Look at T-Mob. For the longest time the best they had were the Dash and Wing, and then picked up the G1 out of nowhere. Hold your horses, I'm sure VZW will catch something good eventually.
...and hopefully they won't decimate its innards with ridiculous restrictions.
Sridhar3, doesnt Verizon have the new Blackberry Storm coming soon? That phone looks awsome!!
The phone rep at Best Buy said yesterday that Verizon is delaying the XV6850 for 8 months. Say it isn't so!!!!
Got mine!
So far it's very cool! Loving the new outlook stuff in Windows 6.1 (came from 5.x).
Didn't get the wired headphones with it though.
I like winmo phones and I like my iphone 3g. They all do things well and offer different things for different people. I loved my Motorola Q Black until my wife's phone died and I gave it to her so I could try out the iphone 3g. I love the iphone too. Different strokes for different folks but nerds just love to try and one-up each other.
You just called your wife a nerd.
I could have bought one today but i am all sorts of poor. no chance i can afford this yet. but its gorgeous. couple lag issues i saw, and it had a short setup time before you actually got to use it. sexy ass phone though.
I think most phones have some lag issues - at least all the ones i've used and/or owned. A reboot usually fixes it for a while. I hate to keep harping on it but my iphone surprised me when I set up my email account. It imported all the damn settings and worked perfectly without me having to do anything really. I was fairly impressed. I do think that the latest HTC phones are definitely giving the iphone a run for its money in the looks department and you can't deny the functionality of winmo. I hope they do well with it.

That should take care of your lag issues. As soon as i get my Pro or X1, even before i load up a MicroSD, ill be loading a cooked rom.
Got mine earlier today also. Looks like each store is getting 10 to sell. It looks and feels great compared to the 8125 I was using. Happy to find it was packaged with a screen protector too.
Got my Fuze today at the Rehoboth Beach Delaware ATT store. It's unreal. The screen is off the hook. Listen to me and I'm 51. LOL
The sound is great, the touch flo is awesome. I'm trying to connect my bluetooth Blu-Ant head set, but not seem to be finding it. It did find my printer off the bat. The web is supre fast, and I'm in a 3G area. The phone is just to much to talk about, But so far and only home one hour with it. I could not want more. Iphone beaware.
Beachboyde/Jon
Beware, on the CDMA version of the Touch Pro the battery life is horrible. I used it for a week and then returned it. I went back to my Titan (Mogul) I only got four and half hours of talk time/data on the phone and then had to plug it in. I even cooked my own roms for it and with battery hacks and still had bad bad battery life. If you have a Fuze which is GSM, please report back your battery life.
Cheers,
Churma
I got mine today. My brother and I both went and got one. It is a real nice step up from the Tilt. So far I'm really liking it.
Android's G1 killer!
please compare it to nokia E71, which is way better IMO
